the women's party was the creation of alice paul. alice paul is one of my heroes. it is a pretty short list too. she is a euro because she is really a figure out of the 1960's. direct action, uncompromising, a constitutional vision of solving social problems and especially late problems like suffrage especially problems like suffrage through the constitutional law, including constitutional amendment. she a very clear strategy. it drove the mainstream of suffrage activist. she wanted to focus on constitutional amendment and to focus only on suffrage and just not get involved in the question of the war. most progressive women signed up for the war effort in various capacities. and, and she was quite different. and the other part of her strategy was to direct her attention at president wilson. that drove the other suffrages -- stuff or just nuts who were -- suffragist nuts who were largely democrats who supported wilson, and just continued to force the issue, and to take his declared war goals, war make the world safe for democracy. and the rhetoric saying what about
