we're tied to the huge palisades fire, the eaton fire and altadena has caused 11 deaths at least 10,000 buildings have been destroyed. also, the ventura county sheriff's office says a man was killed while trying to escape the 28 acre. all of us fire. cal fire says there are 4 major wildfires and they burned thousands of acres and destroyed many buildings. there are also a lot of smaller fires marked by red dots. as for the bigger wildfires, the largest, the most threatening continues to be palisades fire that's burned more than 23,000 acres near topanga and malibu. only 11% contained at last check. the eaton fire roughly 14,000 acres near altadena and pasadena. 15% contained tonight, the kenneth fire 90% contained. it's burned roughly 1000 acres in the west hills area near calabassas. and there is the hurst fire. it's burned nearly 800 acres. it is 76% contained. this isn't our area and of course, the causes of all for wildfires under investigation. again today, california emergency officials have been updating us holding news conferences, talking also about the kind of weather conditio

altadena is like the small town amongst the big-city. i grew up in altadena and i recognize so many people i see on the news from coming into the hardware store. i have been here for a long time. so it is heartbreaking. i think the hardest thing i'm seeing now was talking to close friends parents of kids that play baseball my son that had lost their homes and they don't have anywhere they are having trouble finding homes. that is where they need help. >> trace: i wonder did you see when they were fighting the fire did you see firefighters they were spread very thin. they were spread very thin out there in the palisades. did you see any firefighters and when and where were your parents go next? >> there were a bunch of firefighters but it was very stretched thin as you said. in my neighborhood i did not see that many if any. they have done such a fantastic job so i have to commend them for that. but you know when the future for my parents they are still figuring it out long term. i think they will still stay on the west side right now the
