fox5's alyssa deitsch joins us near nellis and boulder highway... alyssa. and despite this happening at a crosswalk... witnesses tell police, the pedestrian killed crossed when he wasn't supposed to. we spoke with metro police on scene overnight... who tell us the pedestrian was killed right here.. when a driver hit him at this crosswalk around 11. witnesses told police the light was green for the car... and the pedestrian was crossing against the "do not walk" signal. the driver stayed on scene... and showed no signs of impairment... and police don't believe the driver was speeding. identified. we only know he is male. this marks the 63rd fatal collision this year.... and the second in two days. "we want people to start keeping their eyes up paying attn to how they're driving, walking on the roadway so we can keep these fatal numbers down." we are hovering around the same number of fatal collisions in las vegas as last year. this time last year we were at 65. sgt. strader says, historically... as the weather cools over the next couple months, it becomes mo

we go right to fox5's alyssa deitsch live from the scene of the massive fire yeah, families were supposed to come here to the people's autism foundation within the next couple of days to pick up the school supplies. overnight, which you could see burning from our strat cam. one woman who works for the people's autism foundation told me they've been collecting backpacks and school supplies for children with specials needs and their siblings for months--getting everything they need from recent school supply drives. but after a fire was reported here around midnight... all those school supplies are gone. and now they're in desperate need of collecting more before school starts monday. = "there were hundreds of families coming for supplies they needed for their children and now its just gone." we still don't know what caused the fire, but the foundation has just days to replenish their supply for kids. if you want to help we've thrown up links to their website and facebook page on condolences continue to pour in after hundreds of people were killed in a massive earthquake in italy wednesday.
