i'm ama daetz. we'll get back to the celebrations in a moment. first developing news out of san jose can the search for a serial arsonist is intensifying after three more fires this morning all deemed suspicious. sergio quintana is live with the community. reporter: the fire department just told us about the three fires about in the last hour and a half or so, and earlier this afternoon, residents came to the fire station, picked up fliers like this one that include a sketch of the suspected arst, and distributed them throughout the neighborhood. this is the damage from one of this morning's fires, a portable building behind a church was damage. fire crews were able to put it out before they spread to any nearby structures. no one was injured there. earlier this morning, another fire was set but was turned out pretty quickly by neighbors before fire crews arrived. a third fire was put out later in the morning by fire crews. all three fires happened within hours of each other before the sun came up. this afternoon in an effort organized by city co

[cheering] reporter: the crowd went wild the moment the 49ers kicked that field goal, winning the game over the packers, 23-20. the food truck park hosted this watch party. one of many gathering places across the bay area from the 49er faithful. main say they never had a doubt the team would win, and the super bowl? now on the way, according to a lot of people. >> never doubt. we're true

ama daetz, abc7 news. >> federal officials have approved safety changes at san francisco general hospital after a patient was found dead in a stairwell. in september lynn spalding disappeared from her room, but her body wasn't discovered until two and a half weeks later in a locked stairwell. hospital stairwell doors are now equipped with alarms and sheriff's deputies who provide security at the hospital must search the stare as well as every day. >> oakland police are looking to crack down on the number of car thefts in the city and today mayor jean quan will host the club giveaway. along with the interim police chief. they will giveaway 200 steering wheel locks to residents in the clinton park neighborhood where car thefts are among the highest. the clubs will be handed out on 6th avenue between nine and eleven this morning. >>> many fans of big-wave surfing are already looking to next year's mavericks invitational off half moon bay. meanwhile, one world-class surfer has taken only a $12,000 prize for winning the contest yesterday. we have more from half moon bay on the competition and

abc news reporter ama daetz as the story. >> palo alto fire got home to find the home on embarcadero road fully engulfed. two bodies were found inside. the deaths will be handled by the police, fire and santa clara county task force. >> anytime there's a fatality at the fire scene le we will put up a crime scene until we are able to determine what happened, if the fire is criminal in knit you are or not. it happens at every fire when we discover a body. >> a door anybody said a man and caretaker lived in that home. >> johnny was a vietnam war vet. he's been pretty sick. i haven't seen him for a while. >> firefighters had trouble putting out the fire because there were a lot of items inside the home-like newspapers and boxes. >> we had a heard time kind of getting in and where we needed to go. the home was apparently in fairly poor condition before the fire began society fire just enhance this had and mid-it worse. >> the investigation will really get underway when they were day light to help them. mama dates, abc7 news. >> in walnut creek officials are investigating the cause of a fa
