amy hollyfield is on the ground with the latest. amy? >> good morning. 350 americans are now here at travis air force base. we have video of that second plane landing just arriving from china within the last half hour. paz passengers were screened for coronavirus before they left china and now they'll be screened again. if they test positive, they will be taken to the hospital. one of the two airplanes will be leaving here for southern california, but some evacuees will be staying here, which has some people who live here in fairfield a bit nervous. >> there are people out there that have compromised immune systems, this would be, you know, detrimental to them. >> a lot of people on our facebook groups and community groups are terrified. it's a hysteria, i feel like, like with the swine flu and the bird flu. >> the evacuee also stay at the west wind inn on travis air force base, the hotel on the base. they will be quarantined for two weeks. if they show any symptoms they will be taken to the hospital. the cdc is here on scene, they'll be

abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live for us at uc davis medical center in sacramento where that patient from solano county is being treated. >> in all other cases in the united states the patient had traveled abroad or been in close contact with someone who had. this patient had not traveled. so this is the first case of its kind in the united states, they're calling it a possible community spread. it was found here in northern california. officials brought the patient from solano county to be treated at uc davis medical center in sacramento. uc davis put out an email to its employees saying this patient wasn't treated by the cdc for four days, so some people here may have been exposed. health officials have been on high alert for the first community spread, but they say they're not surprised that it happened. >> it's what we've expected. we've known for a long time there had to be people who were infected but we had not identified. >> officials say that the transmission did not happen at travis air force base, which is located in solano county. that's where quarantined american

reporter amy hollyfield is live with more on this story. amy?> reporter: the victim's mother says she wants to hear what he has to say. john lee cowell has pleaded not guilty by reason of insand to murder and attempted murder. his attorney says he suffers from schizophrenia and hears voices in his head. the family says they believe he is faking it. they faced an emotional day in court when surveillance video of her death was played and today they could be hearing from cowell himself. >> nia would want me to be strong, to fight hard for her. i'm there physically for my daughter and that's the only reason why i sit there and endure that. that's my baby. i have to be there for her. we are her voice. >> reporter: cowell is accused of stabbing nia wilson at the macarthur b.a.r.t. station. police say the attack was ran done and unprovoked. cowell was kicked out during opening statements because he kept shouting out at the prosecutor. the defense starts its case. if convicted cowell could be sentenced to life in prison without parole. in the newsroom a

amy hollyfield joins us life from the newsroom with more on this. amy?n said he is scared, thieves stole his phone, his gold bracelet and necklace. he says it is all worth about $5,000. look at this video. he's attacked in the middle of the day in front of his home. two men grab him, put a gun to the back of his head. they force him to the ground. they pat down his body and walk away. he was just out vacuuming his car. it was 1:30 on a monday afternoon. you can see the gun there. the victim, he didn't want to talk on camera. he's nervous. his neighbors are all telling us they're glad it was captured on camera and they hope the cameras will prevent future crimes. >> this is the worst thing that's happened probably in ten years. hopefully it will work for deterrence value first and foremost. and should there be a problem, we'll have a record of it. >> it was his camera that caught what neighbors believe is the thieves white sedan moments before the attack. this happened in the diamond neighborhood this is on demuth street. neighbors think they'll add more

amy hollyfield is live with more on this proposal. amy? >> you're right about that. riders we talked to don't like it. we're hearing this could be setting up a showdown with city hall and transit officials. this increase would cost you a quarter to ride on muni. transit officials say they need the money to keep up with inflation, to pay for operating expenses. so they're talking about increasing your ride from $3 to $3.25. one rider we talked to said it doesn't feel like customers are getting what they pay for. >> i think they've raised the fares almost every year, it's been a lot since i've moved out here. honestly, they don't run regularly enough to really feel like the fare raise is warranted. i guess you have to pay for stuff somehow. >> and some city leaders don't like it either. they worry a fare hike increase will discourage people from taking public transit. so supervisor dean preston is calling for a muni fare freeze. the proposal will really hit tourists. they're talking about increasing the cable car ride by $1. it would go from

amy hollyfield is joining us live from the newsroom with more on this. amy? >> this is scary. we talked to the victim. he said the thieves stole his phone, his gold necklace and his bracelet, worth about $5,000. look at this video again. he's attacked in the middle of the day in front of his own home. two men grab him and then put a gun to the back of his head. the suspects force him to the ground, pat down his body and then they run away. actually they walked away. it was 1:30 monday afternoon. the victim was just cleaning out his car in his own driveway. he did not want to talk on camera. he is scared. neighbors say they're glad it was captured on camera and they're hoping the cameras will prevent future crimes. >> this is the worst thing that's happened probably in ten years. hopefully it will work for deterrent value first and foremost. should there be a problem, they'll have a record of it. >> it was his cameras that caught what neighbors believe is the thieves white sedan. this happened in the diamond neighborhood. no one was hurt, just shaken up. police are investigatin
