it looks like monday will be the day that the andover, kansas, area needs to pay attention to, anotherf severe weather possible in the exact same areas that were hit hardest by that andover tornado friday evening. today, more immediately, we have a severe weather threat that is an enhanced risk, level 3 of 5 from the storm prediction center, particularly across western portions of texas into the texas panhandle and a slight risk extends into southeast colorado. those are the areas under the gun today for the potential for severe storms. that shifts further eastward again within the kansas area where this monster tornado created such problems, in fact, from the latest storm report from the storm prediction center this tornado actually damaged over 1,000 structures. wow, you can see just how violent it was. very dangerous tornado to say the least, rated ef-3 by the national weather service. that's winds of 136 miles per hour all the way to 165 miles per hour. creating that severe and very widespread damage that occurred. today was a slightly quieter day but we still had tornados. in fact

>> i've been replaying that video from andover, kansas, looking at that tornado, incredible, the damageational weather service is on the ground, they've had boots on the ground the past 12 hours to indicate how strong that tornado was. they've determined ef-3, enhanced fujita 3, the rating system we have for the strength of the winds. that is a 218 to 265 kilometer-per-hour wind speed clocked with this incredible tornado that moved through the area. that's 158 to 206 miles per hour. it caused severe damage. we saw over 1,000 structures damaged from just that one tornado alone late friday evening. and you fast forward to saturday, we had more tornados. in fact, there was a tornado confirmed by radar in the western suburbs of chicago. all in all on saturday, quieter but six tornado reports. 18 reports of wind damage. 35 reports of hail. as you saw, as mentioned, we have another round of severe weather today. first things first, what's happening right now. severe thunderstorms associated with this cold front, dying down. we lose the daytime heating from the sunshine, we no longer have that

this twister ended up in the small town of andover. it barreled straight for city hall. check out the surveillance video here. the force there enough to up branches and trees and you can see it almost rips the flag right off the post. it swerved away from city hall at the last minute. fortunately, no deaths reported in connection with this tornado. but that video is really something. and the south is now bracing for more severe weather tonight. satellite video shows us the intensity of the tornadoes across oklahoma and texas. you can even see flashes of lightning going off of the thunderstorms. we're also seeing some of the storm damage, including at an oklahoma school where a classroom the trailers there were flipped over and torn apart between 10,011 1000 customers in oklahoma and texas did not have electricity today. no serious injuries have been reported from the storms, but they are causing a lot of damage. >> it's like 2 and a half months now that we've seen it feels like consistent tornadoes. yeah, every week in that part of the country, it's it's horrible. and no

this storm system brought an ef-3 tornado to andover, kansas last friday.d 100 structures were damaged and more severe weather is on the horizon. derek van dam has the details. >> yeah, that's right, max. it has been a banner year for severe weather and one way to contextualize that is just how many tornadoes we've actually experienced so far this season. to date we've had over 600 reports of tornadoes and on average we'd have about 524. so we're sitting at about 119% of average in terms of confirmed tornados from the national weather service. and yesterday was a prime example. we had two tornadoes in eastern texas. can't forget about the wind damage associated with the severe storms that are marching eastward across the southeastern u.s. it is all associated with this cold front, that is the triggering mechanism for the thunderstorms that develop. of course a lot of hot humid air in place across that region. and this is going to provide the recipe, the ingredients necessary for the recipe for severe storms to develop once again. in fact we've just got the
