yesterday some locations actually got to 90 in places like antioch and pittsburg and that may happen today because inland is not affected as much by what's going on around the coast. at the bay 60s and low 70s. beaches low to mid-60s. the low is contributing to keeping this high from rising too much. so today this high will stay over southern california. they are going to feel the heat. but for us, we are definitely going impacted by this. so it e will prevent tothat fro reaching northern california but then two highs merge together. so we have two ridges. by friday, saturday this is why we are going to reach triple digits. we'll be impacted by both. they will work together to bring on the heat for northern california, southern california, and all across the desert southwest. so triple digits for a lot of communities all throughout the state and, yes, fire weather is a concern by then as well because it's going to be very dry as our rain-snow futurecast shows and we are also going to see our wind direction shift from west to a north wind and that's the offshore breeze that increases

new shotspotter sensors were set up between pittsburg and antioch. since november 2015 there have been 136 shootings along freeways in contra costa county. the sensors will help police find where gunshots were fired. this system will work with the surveillance cameras and license plate readers already mounted on highway 4. >> when shotspotter detects shots fired up on the freeway, it actually moves the cameras in the direction of the gunfire. so we basically have eyes on the freeway at the time of the shooting. >> the test just wrapped up about half-hour ago. officers shut downpours of highway 4 a few minutes at a time to test and calibrate the gunfire sensors. they want to finish installing the devices on 4 and 80 stretching to richmond by august. >>> this is the front page of maryland's capital gazette this morning. the five employees who were gunned down yesterday line the top of the page. their suspected killer reportedly had a grudge. the newspaper says he sued them for defamation but that case was dismissed. and as reporter kiely atwood tells u

kron 4's lydia pantazes joins us live from antioch.people are recovering after a vegetation fire spread to a junkyard. the fire broke out just before six last night at the 27-hundred block of pittsburg- antioch highway. one fire fighter was injured and two others were injured after battling the fire that required the hazardous materials team to respond. the fire quickly spread to a near-by junkyard. several public heath advisories were issued for pittsburg and anitoch last night. but has since been lifted.
