we go to the third-floor attic. it can get hot in the summer time but this is a great place at the old man's. it was used for rooms that -- overflow space for those that worked here. a great area, we will look at the graffiti upstairs. when visitors come to the old man's they are in a down south areas but some will take a special tour to go upstairs to the attic. one of my favorite parts because there is so much to discover and so much graffiti on the wall. if you follow me carefully i will show you my favorites. this room has some wonderful artwork with all the wonderful scholars and intellectuals, then made this house their residence including edward simmons noted for doing amazing murals in the 20th century. when he was a little boy he stayed here and wrote an autobiography, including moments as a young man. as a young child he drew on the wall, in wonderful pencils uc spurs and botanicals in the area. one of my favorites is a wonderful beast as well. if you think of all the kids the right on the walls, the young

imagine waiting in your attic waiting to be rescued. there's a lot of confusion to people coming in. i talked to them inside. they are a bit disoriented. there's volunteers helping them out, but they are trying to grapple with the fact they have lost everything. they are still grappling with the fact they are alive. many of them feared they were going to die because the water started rising quickly. they could see the helicopters, they could see the boats. they were taking people in critical condition or people in wheelchairs first, of course. so, imagine the mothers who are holding their children, waiting to be rescued. the good news, there are a lot of resources here. capacity here, we are told is 5,000. they have a lot of resources, a lot of volunteers are opening their hearts and wallets with supplies, with money to try to get these people back in a reasonable footing. as i mentioned, it is extremely traumatic event, extremely traumatic time for these people as they grapple with the fact that everything they own has been destroyed.
