it all happened on the north end of the avalon. that is beaches right here between ninth street all the way down, to 24th street, they were closed by beach patrol due to dangerous condition. avalon 66. here's satellite six with action radar. is there yesterday's storm. fortunately staying far enough out to sea so that south jersey and jersey shore only saw cloud cover. heavy rains were well off shore. as that storm continues to strengthen and pull off to the north east, it is generating some pretty good swells. matter of fact here's a live view looking down at the the atlantic city beach and we have three to 4-foot waves, good three to 4-foot waves battering the beaches once again this morning and that is producing those rip currents. matter of fact some beaches yesterday in avalon were closed because of the rip currents that were developing and some beach erosion that was taking place. the beach patrol is out there right now. they will be surveying things to see if they can open up the beach this morning. here's the call for the beach, rip current risk once again is on the moderate side, you have to pay close attention to the life guard. wind north at ten to 15 miles an hour. sea of three to 5 feet. rough surf. 86 degrees in the city. jersey shore

we did not do too bad this summer in avalon. i'm sure he shoots better than us. there's the view in cape may, this is going to be a beautiful beach day, the camera is a little breezy out there. you can see the camera shaking around a little bit, you have three foot waves breaking off the sand and the breeze is a land breeze. what that does it is not a cooling sea breeze, it's a breeze that activates all the green heads and the gnats. if you're fishing or boating, back bays of after lone and sea isle -- avalon, sea isle, be prepared for gnats and bugs. allentown, 67. poconos 65. we have the dewpoints in the upper 40s and low 50s, you can see it's not on the scale it's way down there. today feels good. tomorrow, 52. you can see the idea it slowly comes up even at the start of the next week. 58 is still in the pleasant category. i suspect it will be higher than the actual numbers you see here, but the point is we're not seeing the huge dewpoint numbers that oppressive humidity like what we saw this past week which is a good sign. at this point a lot of us done with

lightning moving off the coast probably a pretty amazing light show there if you're in stone harbor avalonsea isle city still raining heavily there. the worst of lightning is now offshore but more rain and more lightning moving into portions of sussex county, delaware and all this could lift up into the shore points before things are said and done. so bit of a messy night down the shore and in southern delaware you can see the cooler air thanks to that rain we're back into the 70s in atlantic city and wildwood. 70 in allentown take leak at mount pocono, 59 degrees there right now. 68 in cape may. the rain has real dropped the temperature there. stone harbor at 72. so we got to 93 again today our normal high is 87. so we're not that far off normal. as far as heat waves go it wasn't the hottest heat wave we've ever had. but it has been an 8-day stretch stretch. we're now at 22 days above 90 this year beats last year and it beats 2013. got a ways to go to beat 2012 and 55 days back in 2010 does not look like we'll hit that thank goodness. 8-day heat wave with the hottest days on either end la

avalon 81 degrees. atlantic city airport in pomona it is warmer with a current temperature of 88. dewpoints tell the story. over the weekend dewpoints were generally in the 40's and 50's. we had a very dry air mass. now a lot of the region showing dewpoints in the low 60's. philadelphia it's slipped down to 58 degrees. above 60 degrees is when you do feel that moisture in the air, somewhat humid. closer to the coast you have dewpoints in the 70's and that's when that ocean influence. satellite6 along with action radar showing there's a weak feature trying to move in. it's falling apart but we have a couple pop-up sprinkles over northern berks county right now. so, there is a possibility of an isolated thunderstorm generally tonight though we'll be partly cloudy and warm, 89 degrees by 7 o'clock. by 10 o'clock, temperatures still in the 80's. but finally i am tracking an end to the heat wave. looks like tomorrow will be one more hot day. then i'm tracking some showers and thunderstorms and a big pattern change. i think some people will actually be complaining about the cool air pre

avalon and the boardwalk in atlantic city it's 80 degrees., this is where most of the humidity is with the wind off the ocean that marine influence. it's pretty muggy at the boardwalk in atlantic city. it's 72 degrees. the dewpoint. inlands though philadelphia the dewpoint 58 degrees. not too bad. a lot of area's dewpoints in the low 60's so a little bit more humid than over the weekend but not oppressive. now, satellite6 along with action radar showing what will end the heat wave is a cold front. it's currently across the midwest. not a solid band of thunderstorms with this but as it rolls in, it could bring us some scattered thunderstorms especially in the overnight hours. so, the next 12 hours a warm night, partly cloudy skies with a thunderstorm in spots. 68 degrees in the suburbs, 75 for center city. and future tracker showing that we could get some strong storms in the overnight hours especially south of philadelphia. could be rolling off the coast around 8:30 so don't be surprised if you do hear a rumble of thunder early tomorrow morni
