i'm jim axelrod.undhog day was monday, but for the people of new england it must feel like groundhog month. for the third time in the last three weekends, they're looking at a forecast for a major winter storm. boston is expecting up to another two feet of snow by tuesday. and they're not entirely sure where they're going to put it all, because that would make six feet in just the last 16 days. let's bring in eric fisher. he is the chief meteorologist at wbz-tv, the cbs station in boston. eric, how much more can new england take? >> jim we are waving the white flag in new england unbelievable snow totals. four feet in boston in the last two weeks alone and we'll be measuring in feet again. the next storm sliding in, steadiest snow sunday and monday, and it will be impacting new york state and much of new england with more heavy snowfall. there aren't many places to put that additional snow. it is streaking out of canada. a couple of areas nearby boston could see up to to tweet before all is said and d

i'm jim axelrod. when we say boston has had a lot of snow this winter, this is what we mean by "a lot." boston is about to set the record for its snowiest month ever recorded. those records go back toine 91, and we're only halfway through the month. after two of the biggest snowstorms ever in the past three weeks another blizzard it forecast for this weekend. how's this for snowfall-- in boston gets more than 10 inches as predicted, it will have seen more snow in the past three weeks than chicago has ever seen in an entire winter. they simply don't know where to put any more in boston leaving mountains of snow in the buenos aires. check out this campus shot in what are being called "the alps of m.i.t. and now here comes some more. jericka duncan begins our coverage. >> reporter: snow removal continues in and around boston due to record-setting snow that has fallen over the last three weeks. empty parking lots have become snow farms and workers are still shoveling off school roofs to avoid collapse. th

i'm jim axelrod. here we go again. this is the fifth saturday night in a row we've started our broadcast with news of an impending snowstorm making things miserable in the northeast. and while new england will get another shot this weekend, it is the south that is dealing with the most deadly conditions right with this massive storm moving through. look at this picture from robertson county, tennessee. the governor has just upgraded the state of emergency in tennessee to what's called 112. that means the situation is considered a major disaster. as you can imagine, with scenes like these the threat of power outages is widespread. but it's not just tennessee. 43.3 million americans are now under a winter storm warning. anna werner begins our coverage. >> reporter: snow, sleet, and freezing rain combined in tennessee with bitterly cold temperatures. officials say at least 18 people died including nine from hypothermia and five from car accidents on slick and snowy streets. now state officials are warning of flash floodin
