i'm becky quick along with andrew ross sorkin and kelly evans.oe is out today we've been watching the u.s. equity futures i bet you have, too. believe it or not this christmas eve morning we are looking at green arrows across the board so far. dow futures indicated up by 61 points the nasdaq up by 40 points the s&p up by close to 9 points. let's talk about some damage we've seen investors not in the holiday spirit at all. you're talking about the biggest weekly loss last week in ten years for the dow and the nasdaq and the largest for the s&p 500 since august of 2011 friday's close for the dow was the lowest since september of 2017 the s&p is the lowest since july of 2017. lots of action today, even though we are talking about a holiday shortened trading day today. trading closes at 1:00 p.m we'll watch this closely throughout the course of the day. there was even heavy volume. dow was down by 400 points on friday in the heaviest volume we've seen in about two years. overnight in asia. the nikkei was closed in observance of the emperor's birthday

i'm becky quick. let's take a look at the u.s. equity futures at this hour. we saw strong moves in the morning. but that all fizzled through the afternoon. you had all three major averages briefly falling into the red before you did get a late day push for stocks that left us with some modest advances. dow was up by 82 points yesterday. the nasdaq was up by 30 points and then the s&p was up by less than a quarter point to close near the low for the year. you're going to see this morning dow futures are up by triple digits futures indicated up by over eight points and nasdaq indicated up by 23 let's also take a look at what happened overnight in asia you'll see that nikkei closed down by .6%. the heng seng was slightly higher the shanghai composite was off by more than 1%. and then in europe, there is active trading taking place right now, you'll see that there are green arrows across the board. looks like the major averages are up by .5% or better for the most part. the cac and dax up by .5%. the ft-se up by .3%. and italy and spain up by more than 1%. finall
