bernie sanders winning in the cedar rapids suburbs. out in dubuque county 97%. that's gone up in the last couple minutes. they're getting close to finishing up here. secretary clinton with a lead up there. senator sanders, though, running pretty competitive. and down anywhere in scott county and davenport up to 98%. that's gone up too. senator sanders leading there. you can find a few more. some of these rural counties. that one's at 100. this one's at 100. we're getting pretty full if you go through those. the bulk are down here in polk county, in des moines and scattered a little bit in the east. but again, you've got 90 precincts out. 95. that means 95% of the vote counted. you're unlikely to shift the results in any dramatic way. one will win by a little tiny bit. we just can't tell you at the moment because the bulk is here and she's been leading here all night. if you were in vegas and you were placing a bet you'd place it by her winning by this much but i don't know if that's a safe bet given the way the night's gone. >> numbers right now 49.8%, 49.6%. doe

it is interesting that bernie sanders, both independent types, and when you showed that map of mountainsome of those areas, it is interesting that geographically, the mountain areas are going for trump and sanders. one of the big dynamics of this election is the independents. you talk about bernie getting the youth vote, but he is also getting a lot of independents. trump is getting a lot of independents as well. it seems to me that all of this, one of the reasons all of this has happened, is that we are not getting the change that obama promised. people -- obama is a great politician, but it is hard -- you try to be in the commentator, and trump and bernie are not the commentators accomodators. guest: the president tried to engage with congress a little bit, a lot of folks on capitol hill will say he did not try hard enough, but if a bernie sanders or donald trump comes to washington, there is still probably going to be republican house of representatives and, if sanders wins, a democratic senate. i cannot imagine a scenario where sanders would win and the democrats would not take back hav

if bernie sanders were to somehow win in texas, if bernie sanders were to somehow win in georgia, andhese are not highly plausible, highly expected outcomes, but if he wins michigan, obviously massachusetts or vermont, that is obviously not enough. he has got to win some state that she is expected to win. mark: they are going to try to break his back by winning some states. massachusetts, they have a political consulting group that is based there, and they are going to try to work very hard to keep bernie sanders from winning there, they are not going to try to shut him out, what they are going to try to shut him down. if hillary clinton is called by the justice department about her e-mails, that could spook voters at least. in south carolina, she could go in and win in march in some unexpected places. john: the other way to win, of course, the other way to do it in some unexpected states would be to do it in these battleground states. bernie sanders could do it in ohio, michigan, florida, maybe, maybe you could say that it is a tough road for bernie sanders, no doubt about it. coming

bernie sanders was campaigning for senator shaheen in 2014 and has come up years before that. new hampshire receives vermont television. so we have certainly known bernie. he's part of the new england family. it's certainly very helpful to him. >> one of the things that has come up in this campaign repeatedly is who is the establishment and who is fighting the establishment and one thing that bernie sanders has said on the campaign trail, he called planned parenthood the human rights campaign and said they are part of the establishment. you've been close to the human rights campaign. you received an award from them. do you consider the human rights campaign, which fights for gays around the country, do you feel that's part of the establishment? >> well, i think that's part of what happens in campaigns, where people say such things. but, you know, i think that people that are out there on the ground and that are in the communities like the human rights campaign, planned parenthooded and the like, are really making a difference in communities across the country. so maybe he has

bernie sanders seemed to edge in. take a listen. >> literally it turns out the day obama was nominated, they said, what are we going do. obstruct, obstruct, obstruct, make it as difficult as he could to do anything. now, we have had to fight through that, and i've but at the president's side time and time again, and this is on top of the birther issue with donald trump and others, a racist effort to try to de-legitimize the president of the united states. >> i believe it was what justice in the past he truly admired, which he got to at the end. it was thurgood marshall. but, yes, out of the blue he sort of brought up president obama and what he claimed were racist attacks against him. there are two things you have to keep in mind here. what we call oppo, or opposition researchnd and demographics. bernie sanders has had a lot thrown at him, that he doesn't support president obama, that he sought a primary challenger for him in 2012, that he penned a little book that criticized president obama and he's suffered a bit be

a declared fund-raising number from the clinton campaign since new hampshire to compare these bernie sanders numbers to. but if you do want context here for what these big numbers mean, in january, it was a freaking shock to the democratic establishment when the sanders campaign announced that it raised $20 million in total in the month of january. and in absolute terms, that's obviously a big number. in relative terms, it was even more impressive because $20 million was $5 million more than what hillary clinton's campaign raised in the month of january. so head to head, in january, those two campaigns, hillary clinton raised $15 million, bernie sanders shocked everybody by raising $20 million. and then in 24 hours we just got word that he raised another more than $5 million. so the technical term when you're talking about raising money like bernie sanders is raising money right now, the technical term is hand over fist. if you prefer a different metaphor, you can imagine, perhaps, a fire hose of money being blasted at bernie sanders right now by his supporters around the country. now, that
