it broke down along the coast because of beryl. beryl is making its way on shore as we speak. what's happening to the north of that is a separate system. this is a part of a front passing by that's going to pass by tomorrow. again the chance for a shower or thunderstorm. as far as beryl goes, making land fall tonight and hovering over land for a day and a half before making a turn off to the north and heading back out to sea. it passes maryland early on in the week. now the model generally take it on this track. the most part, it's going to stay south of us. with this front coming in from the west, it will draw moisture oh -- our way. scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible. those isolated ones this evening -- excuse me isolated ones tomorrow but with the front coming in even more widespread thunderstorms and showers before it gets out out here for the second half of the week. we have small craft advisories in effect. tonight we're not dropping much, some fog forming. tomorrow close to 90 for the high. a shower or thunderstorm possible. better chances tuesday into wed

we'll be watching beryl. take a quick look of what beryl looks like. turning over to north florida.ot a deep convection. no eyewall. this is not a hurricane, not a tropical storm. winds have weakened. the direction will bring it back over the gulf stream warts a lot of heat and energy and that will moon perhaps restrengthening with beryl. people out and about are sweltering. humidity is quite high when you look at that dew point number. in baltimore here's the deal, hot and humid and very, very sunny, very bright conditions most of the day. at times a few fair weather clouds. here's ocean city, record clouds from all indications. of course, a lot of people driving back. take a look in delaware at rehoboth beach. so this was a good place to be this weekend. alt beaches were in the 80s as opposed to the 90's. we have one or two stray showers in western maryland. that's really it. you can see the heat advisories for all of central west maryland. these are high numbers, excessive. the to thal measure has shot up. when you add that no the heat, you and up with dangerous heat index values

beryl made her last lashing on the united states coast.n ocean city today we picked up rain from the edge of beryl, not the nicest day, nothing like memorial day weekend and in annapolis just the outer cloud rings but then you see later in the day the sun starts to come out and that's the clearing that we are experiences overnight tonight. temperature airport 70 degrees, wind is calm and humidity moderate. cooler air is working into the state here. we have a weak cold front knocking on the door to the west and it'll drop temperatures today. we made the upper 840s in a few spots like the inner harbor. tomorrow more like low to mid80s. definitely looking at a comfortable day. humidity will be moderate to low and this will be comfortable down toward shady side. all right to the west its clear. there is the storm off shore. the next weather maker not on the map just yet. not really active yet i go though we see the beginnings of it in the upper midwest. the cool front will continue to push with the remnants of beryl out to sea. slightly dryer

tropical depression beryl. neighborhood by neighborhood we'll clear the skies and be back in the low to mid-80s. it should be a nice day. there it is, big masssive rain but the bulk of the precipitation falling off shore. the rain that we were did get welcomed precipitation. that's the one story about beryl, the coastal southeast. beryl caused wind damage and brought much needed rain. that's where this tropical storm has been a good thing, again headed out to sea. our cold front helping to push beryl away from the coast. so any mischief we might see with the storm will be minimum as the storm heads out to the sea. to the west, we look nice and clear, a great looking day, comfortable temperatures, lower humidity. friday a noise sunny start. by friday evening, the frontal boundary coming through. this will likely moan some showers and -- mean some showers friday evening and friday night. so not an entirely dry weekend. overnight 62 with a few clouds. sun shine back. man, that's good stuff. tomorrow down to 60 or

now, we look at tropical storm beryl and it has weakened a bit. contact with land and that's what happens. winds sustained at 50 miles an hour and it's moving off to the west at 7 miles an hour. it will become a tropical depression and as it works back off into the atlantic, it will restrengthen over the warmer waters. and the good news is it will stay away from us as it goes through time. so we don't have to worry about beryl bringing rain to our area or windy conditions. but as we step outside, ellicott city we are looking at a nice sunrise this morning. we are nice and dry. we are going to get plenty of sunshine in the forecast for today. or even if you head over to bel air dealing with lots of sunshine across the area for today. we could be seeing maybe a couple popup thunderstorms possible but all in all, we have mild temperatures this morning. and that is going translate into hot temperatures as we go into the afternoon mixing with the humidity and we have a heat advisory in effect at lunchtime today until about 9 this evening. and it's for

then, of course, beryl. but quickly, we have the scattered shower, thunderstorms, even snowshowers in the mountainous regions, across the great lakes, we could see nature's fireworks, if you will. so this is beryl, subtropical storm beryl, 45-mile-per-hour sustained winds, up to 50 miles per hour. we had a hurricane hunter investigate this situation. it looks like it's going to stay a tropical storm. but it is going to give us inclement weather, no beach weather for parts of the coastal carolinas, towards georgia and florida. so this is going to continue to move westward. we are expecting the landfall overnight and tomorrow. memorial day weekend for all of these areas, make sure that you are staying indoors. back to you. >> jamie: a lot of warnings, stay on it. we'll check back. >> eric: as janice mentioned, beryl expected to force some beachgers to stay home n. daytona beach, the high winds are kicking up the surf and folks are bracing for it. forecasters warning to watch out for possible coastal flooding.

i will detail beryl coming up. but let's talk about our weather and then we can see we will be hot today and it's going to be humid. but you love it i am so upset about this. being see this pattern showing you what's going on across the nation here. so, we have a trough that is setting up across the west. a trough basecally a dip in the -- basically a dip in the jet stream allowing the colder air to funnel down. we have a ridge setting up across the east and what that does is allows that westerlysouthwesterly flow in here. that's a warm flow and a moistflow. that's why we are talking about the humid weather throughout the day. moisture levels are up there. once you get into the 60s, these are your dew points. and he they will feel it outside. once you get into the 70s, you are dealing with the tropical weather. and that's what you usually get in july. so this pattern is fairly unusual to be be this early. now, heat advisory is in effect for today. so we have for the areas here shaded in the orange color, and we are

tropical storm beryl intensifying. forecasters saying beryl will hit the united states late tonight. it is centered 85 miles east of jacksonville, florida right now. tropical storm warnings now in effect for the entire georgia coastline as well as parts of florida and south carolina. people there bracing for heavy rain, wind and the threat of very severe flooding. also the storm system ruining memorial day weekend plans. shoreline campers sent packing heading inland. several events in florida including a memorial day day jazz festival canceled ahead of the storm. winds knocking down tree limbs and power lines in coastal georgia leaving hundreds without electricity at this hour and this is all before beryl has made a grand entrance. we have team fox coverage tonight. rick reichmuth from the extreme weather center but let's start with elizabeth prann from the beach in florida. >> these are by far the worst conditions we have seen yet today. the winds picking up quickly and rain coming down. gusts between 30 and 40 miles

the second feature is beryl we'll zoom into beryl.tly barreling off the coast but it's moving off the north carolina coast. pretty good rains though. again, anywhere from 4 to 6 inches of rain coastal sections of north carolina and also southeastern virginia. and you see how it's just kind of clipping the delmarva. not heavy rain today in ocean city and rehoboth and bethany but kind of cold. temperatures held in the 60s most of the day. this is where the front is just entering now western maryland and it's going to be a while before it rolls through. when it does we'll notice the winds turning northwest and we'll notice some drop of humidity and really a spectacular day tomorrow. so the clouds on their way out. these clouds may return with the front and then they will clear out after midnight. so talk about temps. very nice. 81 arlington. 80 bethesda. this is about average in terms of temperatures, 83 college park. 82 beltsville. 84 up in laurel and 82 out the stirling and 81 fairfax. okay here's the deal. the cold front moving throug

beryl hit the coast early -- are shut down. beryl hit the coast early sunday morning. level roads were shut at times stopping traffic. powerful waves sent this boat crashing into a nearby wall. the winds mocked out power and tens of thousands do -- knocked out power and tens of thousands do not have electricity. parades across northeast florida were canceled. beryl weakened by the afternoon and people went to see what the storm left behind. jacksonville's mayor is warning resident to stay close to home. it's feared beryl's outer bands could bring more wind and possibly tornadoes. >> if you don't have to drive, please don't drive. don't go out into the water. >> reporter: but this storm does have a silver lining. beryl is moving further inland bringing rain to a region that suffered through a long drought. >> we could see widespread 5 to 10-inch rain. so in some respects that would actually be some good news despite the washout for the holiday weekend. >> reporter: the remnants of beryl are expected to head back out to sea late tuesday bringing rain to to the carolinas.
