>> thank you, betsy. one of the challenges talked about turnout is the post election day panels if we usually don't have a whole lot of good data on which to answer those questions, but you've probably seen through various social media news outlets of course the high number of ballots that were cast. the kind of obvious answer was turnout was high. well, yeah, it was. the particular numbers we think are going to hit around 48%, may be higher. of course on a lot of the issues related to the outcomes of elections that have been called, and those that have 99% or 99.5% in. georgia and florida races, in many of those locales, we're still waiting about to arrive. and so one of the things we can do is look at turnout numbers in terms of ballots cast and see the numbers were up across the board, across most demographic groups. i think the long-awaited increase in turnout is latino voters, was evidenced in this election more so than in previous elections. we know women as candidates as well as voters, that turnou

where are we, betsy?rt of probably reached an extraordinary although not unprecedented low in terms of the ugliness. a republican member of congress was shot and nearly died by a shooter who was a supporter of bernie sanders and who asked people in the parking lot near where he was practicing baseball if the people playing baseball were republicans. of course, the difference between that violent attack and the violent attacks that we saw play out over the last few weeks including targeted at your previous guest is when the news of that attack broke, bernie sanders who was -- who in a tenuous way had been associated with the attacker as the attacker had volunteered on his presidential campaign. sanders within hours went to the floor of the senate and denounced will attacks. spoke out very clearly and explicitly against it. i remember that. i covered that episode. at the same time, president trump when we see these violent attacks inspired by him, including the guy who mailed out more than a dozen pipebombs

betsy is right. students at the for-profit universities that i serve, the eight community college districts i serve, they are dealing with way too much debt. we have seen schools like the university of illinois freeze tuition. that is a good first step. but we have to pass things like my bill called the employee participation student assistance act. it is going to allow companies to invest in their new employees, and their graduates, both through vocational education, be it through a four-year degree. this will allow companies to pay back student debt. students would not have to pay taxes on it. this is an idea that has widespread support in washington and i am optimistic we are going to put it through. frankly it has the potential to save the taxpayers $4 billion a year, just by covering the debt students may default on. >> would you like a rebuttal? ms. londrigan: we have to make sure we are fully funding pell grants and making adjustments for the cost of living. another idea is expanding work-stud

betsy, can you take this one? >> there are limits. some are looking to sue, charging that the president violated the senate's right. whilt ke whitaker has not been senate confirmed. he was senate confirmed years and years ago during the bush administration when he became a united states attorney. however, under this administration, he has not gone through that yet. for acting attorney general, he is for all practical purposes the attorney general at the justice department and arguably the single most powerful law enforcement official in the world. >> natasha, sure live he should recuse himself given what he said about the mueller investigation. >> you would assume that. we don't know whether he's actually asked officiofficials justice department to weigh in on this. he could completely ignore their advice. he has the power to limit certain aspects of the mueller investigation, which he has criticized many times before. he could, for example, shoot down a recommendation for an indictment or a subpoena, for example. according to recent
