pritchett has more on the problems the lightning caused but let's been with our chief meteorologist bill martin >> the last thing you want to see are lightning strikes and we got them. last night after midnight. 12:31 a.m. watch the lightning streaks. fairfield, you are getting hammered. 1:00 a.m. in the morning. keep your eyes in the north bay. 2:00 a.m. watch them cluster. talking about hundreds of lightning strikes with very little rain. lot of lightning was cloud to cloud. it wasn't hitting the ground. which is good news are firefighters. morning hours you see the lightning strikes moving off. closer here into the east bay. the bend wood area. discovery bay. -- brentwood area. discovery bay. lightning strikes there. the current conditions has all that activity to the east of us. nothing in lake tahoe. up in here you have the activity. the weather is changing. you know that. things are changing. next 24 hours there will be changes. when i get back we will go into your forecast for tomorrow. the main lightning maker is out of the area. in the mountains now. good news for us and firefighters.

i'm consumer editor tom vacar, now to my colleague chief meteorologist bill martin. >> tommy you're right. it is going to warm up as we head into tomorrow. the rain is leaving us. we got rain in june. the last 24 hours there's the cloud cover. you see it streaming in out of the pacific. just a moist flow. a lot of moisture headed our way. originally the models thought this moisture is going to hook up with upper level dynamics and it's really going to rain hard. some forecasts are saying up to 2-inches of rain. the moisture came in but never locked in any dynamics any lift or anything. the rainfall accumulations were there. but they weren't that heavy. expect in the north bay. i got reports in the genre reports -- in the jenner area up to 2-inches of rain. that's the last 24 hours that's good news though. great news for firefighters right. take a little relaxer here because you know for the next couple of days things are going to be kind of moist and fire danger is going to be down. but the big story in the weather center is now the rain is gone things are really going to heat up. by the

our chief meteorologist, bill martin here after tracking conditions in that part of benicia. >> not hotidity is a relatively high. what was happening out in the benicia area is the strong winds. you can see that smoke plume. the smoke is blowing horizontal to the ground. winds are blowing 25 to 30 miles per hour. see how brown it is. some green out there a couple weeks ago, but you are seeing lots of brown. the grass and weeds are dried out and because of the higher humidity, that helped firefighters get a handle on this. 45% humidity in the fire zone. that's pretty high for this time of day for this area. winds rest at 28. they were gusting to above 30 and temperature 67 degrees. just shows you how important weather conditions are. the winds are bad, but when it's a cool, moist wind like that, it's not the end of the world. they have a good handle on the fire. when i come back, we'll talk about a change. today was the coolest day of the week. i'll see you back here. >> breaking news out of the east bay. there's a medical emergency at the downtown hayward bart station and that stopped n
