brentwood police say they took isabella ely and a 16 year old minor into custody outside the safeway on second street yesterday. the two are accused of stealing at least $2,000 worth of merchandise from the ulta in the streets of brentwood mall. upon investigation, police say they found stolen items from the brentwood and discovery bay safeways. the minor was returned to their parents, but ely was taken to the martinez detention facility. it's not clear what charges she may face. police were able to track down the pair because a tip from a bystander who recognized that the car was involved in the ulta theft. it's the second time that same ulta shop has been hit in recent days. just last week, surveillance footage showed 18 year old taylor martin appearing to shove items into a bag. she has been charged with burglary and grand theft. prosecutors say she is still in as much as $80,000 worth of merchandise across the bay area. a burst dam in alaska resulted in historic flooding in the capital city. in tonight's west coast rap, we'll hear one resident's account of the terrifying moments.

same story in discovery bay as well as in brentwood. the winds are breezy at sfo along the peninsula up to 23mph. otherwise the winds have been pretty flat. we'll pick up a little bit later out of the west, 10 to 20mph. novato's reporting a wind up to 12mph. so this is really interesting doings here. you see all that shield to cloud cover on that satellite imagery. that's subtropical moisture that actually originated in arizona. then by clipped the nevada area into the southern california desert. a couple of showers earlier today around los angeles county. and now all of that is shielding the plume of smoke over the redding area. we can't even see it from our visible satellite imagery. so it's going to get humid over in the redding and chico area, where the park fire is burning out of control. and we do have a risk of dry lightning from those clouds. and the same does exist here in our east bay tonight, overnight. it's a slim chance. only 5 to 10% chance. but nonetheless, we have to mention it because that presence is known now. meanwhi

they will climb up to a round of 90 degrees for fairfield, antioch, brentwood and up in santa rosa andperatures around the bay in the upper 60s for san francisco and oakland. there is not a whole lot of variation there for livermore. average high is 88 degrees and the warmest around that by the middle of next week. eventually you know that you would hit september and another spell of the inland heat that's headed our way with the offshore winds as well. and that we are also avoiding the most wildfire smoke employing around the state. blowing off the boise fire to the northwest of redding and the fire in eastern lake county called the reservoir fire, directing most of the smoke towards sacramento, the loop of the smoke plume in the next 36 hours or so as you could see all that being directed away from that bay area by the same west to east wind with that onshore breeze that is keeping our temperatures close to normal and over the course of the next few days. and the hot end of the spectrum and it will be up to 90 degrees or so. we could handle that and we will not be anywhere close to t

not a whole lot of variation, the warmest spots staying in the low 60s around antioch and brentwood andgrees for a low temperature in san jose by early tomorrow morning and then we warm up still within about 5 degrees of average, 2 degrees above normal in san jose, 3 degrees above normal in concord, low to mid-90s for the hottest spots on the map, nothing even close to triple digit heat. temperatures around the bay in the 70s, 70 degrees in san francisco, 60s along the coast, and most inland parts of the north bay in the 80s until you go farther inland. that's where you're more likely to get up to just above 90 degrees in santa rosa and a little farther above 90 degrees in healdsburg, but that is appropriately hot for this time of year. farther down the line, there are signs things will change a bit at the end of the month. this is the eight to 14-day forecast. the warmest temperatures are shaping up well to our east. it does look like we are going to see things pivoting in a warmer direction as we finish the month of august and head into early september. that's a long way down the line

up inland, in fact, still a little bit too warm for an afternoon walk for heath and koa here in brentwoodill get up to 90 degrees. that's going to be one of the hottest spots around the entire bay area. if you're wearing a fur coat, you don't want to be out in that kind of weather. an early morning walk, probably a better idea for these two. our forecast high temperatures for tomorrow will be almost exactly normal for this time of year. we'll start in the santa clara valley where temperatures will top out in the low to mid-80s, 82 degrees in san jose, 1 degree above average. we can handle that. mostly 70s around the bay, near 80 degrees down the peninsula in redwood city, upper 60s in san francisco, 1 degree below average and the hottest spots, around 90 degrees, not that bad for the middle of august. it doesn't look like this pattern changes a lot through the just the seven-day forecast, but beyond. temperatures in the north bay, mostly low 80s up to the upper half of the 80s for santa rosa by tomorrow afternoon. as we drop the map out of the way, look at the ten-day temperature outlook

temperatures are hot inland spots. 89 in san jose. 93 in livermore 90 form brentwood 90 in sonoma. 91 now in the battle. and 93 in santa rosa, it is going to be even hotter by tomorrow afternoon, at least in parts of the bay area. we'll show you where coming up in a few minutes. all right, lauren, south bay officials are warning folks about this tiny bug which is killing trees. >> it is called the shot hole. >> borer beetle. >> and it's about the size of a sesame seed so small. the insect has recently found in san jose. it's not clear how or when it arrives in the bay area but may have come from southern california. the county's asking residents to help them out by reporting trees infested with these things. meanwhile, west nile virus continues to be a concern in the bay this summer. santa clara county vector control workers say just in the last week they've discovered infected mosquitoes in parts of san jose and palo alto earlier this summer. a contra costa county, man who had preexisting conditions died after getting infected. we spoke with the public health expert with cal state ea
