i'm carolyn tyler. >> we have developments in the occupy movement. a tense standoff in portland, preparations for a crackdown in oakland, and in san francisco police are searching for two suspects who slashed a couple of officers during this weekend's occupy san francisco march. that violence marred what was otherwise a peaceful demonstration. tomas ramon reports from the embarcadero. >> about 250 protestors chanted as they walked down embarcadero. when the group attempted to walk on the street car tracks on broadway there was a confrontation between police and marchers. >> one of my officers was cut. apparently one of demonstrators had a sharp object on the end of a stick and reached across. >> a woman in the group had a blade on the end of an object. another officer's face was slashed. both officers retreated at the scene and were released. police officers gathered to make the report while watching the protestors gather at the maritime museum park. >> it shows you it's not as peaceful as you think. al

i'm carolyn tyler. red cross says 60 people need to find a new place to live this morning after their apartments were damaged or destroyed by fire last night. investigators say the fire on homestead road begin just before 6:00 when cook oil overheated. they spent night at a nearby high school. they will find out this morning if any of their belongings survived. here is tomas ramon. >> reporter: the fire begin in unit 45 at the village green apartments in cupertino and spread quickly. more than 80 firefighters joined in a mutual aid effort to put it out. jay park says he didn't know there was a fire until he heard screams. >> there was a girl outside screaming. that is when i realized there was a peir going on outside. >> he and his brother tried to put it out. >> we were trying to stop it but you couldn't do anything. it was too dark. >> his apartment is safe, the one where the fire started is gone. that is where a woman was cooking according to firefighters. >> a person had warmed up some oil. it basic

i'm carolyn tyler. it is rather soggy out there so let's get started with meteorologist lisa with a look at how long the rain may last. >> good morning, everyone. we have seen a breakthrough the overnight hours but take a look. we are about to get hit from here all the way down to half moon bay. live hd shows thunderstorms offshore. with them some gusty winds. here's a closer inspection of the north bay. smattering of showers from highway 1 up through the park in santa rosa. but it goes here to the coast where we are looking at the heavier showers. and down along the peninsula, into the east bay we are talking about very light bay around san leandro and hayward. but right here off the coast notice this big green blob. this is all going to rotate through. and the south bay, you had a little bit of thunderstorm, heavy rain earlier. this is pushing through. but as we widen out, look, you will notice that this line of showers and storms is continuing to hold together and move closer to the coast. that will
