casey: how did he know? when you have 200,000 people dying in the united states and people are still unaware of of the scope of this. that is a big story. and as i joked with my friends here, you do not have 200,000 people dying without leaving a paper trail. that is the way i kind of approached its. what was so wonderful about this collaboration is each one of us brought a different talent. it was like bringing three chefs into a restaurant we each had different skill sets. sources,ble to share editorial purges. we stole lines from each other'ss stories. we trusted each other. they look at our copy. we looked at their copy. provided suggestions both ways. these guys had done a fantastic story in 2016. it dropped a couple weeks before the election. nobody noticed it. the new approach to bill, it gave it a new impetus to take a second look at the story. ms. casey: it is so different getting some of the to talk to a reporter and to a reporter talk to a camera. ,ow did you talk with sources especially like joe

casey stiegel live in new orleans with the very latest. he is at lake pontchartrain, you can see it behind casey. casey, the wind is starting and if it comes over the lake they could have problems. reporter: eric that is what storm surge is. as the storm is out over water in the gulf, it has extreme winds adam was talking about. as it moves north and it moves east toward the shore, it pushes all of water from the gulf inland. that has potential of filling up lake pontchartrain here with storm surge. water levels are already high here. so no doubt everyone living all around this lake very, very concerned about that, because i want you to take a look right down there. you can see, we're not talking about a really great distance between neighborhoods and the shoreline. you can see hopes and businesses right up there. it doesn't take much. when you're talking about potential, six, seven foot surge in this spot, that could be problematic for the neighborhood. the national weather service is saying window of preparedness is closing quickly. hurr

what's going on on the hill casey? >> what you're seeing is a long simmering and ugly divide and argument inside the democratic conference going out into the open. linda is second highest ranking woman in the house leadership. she also is 48 years old. nancy pelosi is 77 years old. her top leadership team includes both of whom are around her age or closer to pelosi's age. that has been something that we saw flare up around the leadership race earlier in the year. there was some unexpected challenges to pelosi's role at the top of the caucus. i think what you're seeing reflected here is a real deep frustration that there has not been any turn over or any opportunity to make a real mark and there's also concerns that nancy pelosi's change is a liability for democrats running in the 2018 midterm elections. it has been shown that that's the case. it is part of the flip side of that argument. i will say democrats privately are not pulling any punches behind the scenes as they talk about this. there are suggestions sanchez o
