we're seeing on live doppler 7 you can see thunderstorms off the central coast, they do have lightening so there is the risk of dry lightening moving into northern california overnight tonight. it is for that fact a red flag warning is now in effect for the threat of that dry lightening until 11:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. the risk is there. if lightening does strike a new fire could potentially strike. we're going to take a closer look at this red flag warning, how hot we get tomorrow and how long this heat wave will last in a few minutes. >>> for the second night in a row pg&e was ordered by the states agency that operates the border grid to start rolling outages about 2:30 this evening. pg&e says power was restored about three hours later. the state agency cal iso said earlier today there wouldn't be outages but change of plans was made due to electricity increased demand and loss to a power plant and some wind power. here's a look at the current outages in the bay area. these counties were not impacted by today's rotating outages but a pg&e spokesperson tells us there were still sever

and i want to give you a look at the central coast. this is a shot using the pg&e cam. they are able to capture images throughout the entire state of california. the reason i am showing you this is because you can actually see the thunderstorm activity there. and they've actually been able to capture some of the fires that have started because of lightning strikes. and that is a reason why the national weather service did go ahead and upgrade that fire watch to a red-flag warning. take a look at satellite radar. you can see hundreds of lightni lightning strikes that have been, you know, really since the morning hours, been really active. and this is what we're going to be tracking heading into tonight. here locally, heading from the south to north. approaching from south to north, that red-flag warning will remain in place through sunday. so why are we under a red-flag warni warning? when typically, they issue these, we'd like to think of it as they have guksty winds. think of that dry brush out there as fuel. any sort of brush catching on fire that can spread. now, our

here is a look at a gray central coast. so a lot of fog along the central coast. 63 in san jose where you have the haze and this morning air quality for most of you is just a little bit better. 62 in fairfield. and looking at the current air quality shows that we're looking at the unhealthiest levels in condition cord, but wi concord. look at redwood city, but these numbers will change. the pollutants will continue to tick up. and north way, temperatures in the 60s, relative humidity 80%. the winds are calm, but look what happens throughout the afternoon. the winds will spike to the northwest by about 5:00 and then we'll have a warm several days where numbers will be in the mid-90s and the summer heat continuing. here is the second half of the weekend where tropical storm genevieve, remnants of it, may interact with a system that could bring us some showers or are a thunderstorm. we're looking at 70s today in the city and 90s in livermore. now here is a look at more high temperatures where you live brought to you by the one

look at the bigger picture you can see some of the high clouds moving up from the south to the central coast, and this is what we're going to be watching close for sunday. i very much like what we saw a week ago as the triggering mechanisms, the remnants of what was hurricane genevieve continues up the south. that could trigger not only the thunderstorms but the gusty winds that could spread those fires, start more fires. the fire weather watch starts 4:00 tomorrow morning. there's a slight chance early sunday, a better chance late sunday into monday and then again monday into tuesday. styinds anywhere from hour.ando. 69 in concord, looking at 58 in the city and a bit of fog there in pacifica. our exploratorium camera looking at some smoke and haze through the weekend. mild with a bit of fog at the coast but hot inland the next two days. and the mid-90s inland and turning more humid with the chance of that dry lightening better likely sunday night into monday and then again into tuesday. so as we look at air quality it is unhealthy. our inland east bay tomorrow and looking at unhealthy level

the lightning strikes off the coast or over parts of the central valley in the sierra. we can see how busy this is and this is able to detect the lightning as it happens so we can see what's going on and we'll, of course, let you know if we do see any more lightning strikes. the potential will start to go down later on this morning mostly for the north bay but still that overhead surge of that tropical moisture moving in, so there will still be that chance of lightning without the rain. we call that dry lightning. as we go hour by hour, we will start to see things quieting down overnight. then the fog returning near the coast which is a good thing. as we look at our air quality, though, it's been really bad throughout the weekend and not being able to go outside when we're in the pandemic and the kids home schooling, it's been really rough as we lock at how unhealthy this is in parts of the east bay, as you look at danville, the most unhealthy air quality that we have across the bay area. also pretty bad in hayward right now. all of us are either orange or red which is
