chp officers tell us they have been watching the man that lives in this house. they identified him as everett basham who is in his mid 40s. they arrested him yesterday in sunny veil for -- sunnyvale for making a public threat against a public official. officers found a home made bomb and bomb making materials insiden president bomb squad and swat team were called in and they dug a hole in the front yard, buried the material they found, covered it up with the sandbags so it could detonate safely. >> earlier today the houses were evacuated and we had some shelter in place until everything was rendered safe. >> reporter: there are numerous surveillance cameras throughout his home and radio and microwave antennas. it's unknown why he had all this equipment. this neighborhood is near kiley boulevard. it's a middle class neighborhood with well kept lawns. we plan on talking to neighbors to find out what they knew about basham. there could be nor explosives inside. we are told the bomb squad is supposed to come out here when it turns daylight at 8:00 a.m.. we'll keep y

we have been checking in with chp so far this morning. there's a couple of fender- benders out there but what could slow you down is the overnight roadwork. westbound 580 through the dublin interchange it's getting busy through the pleasanton area. the drive time is 14 minutes if you are coming from the altamont pass and continuing westbound all the way out towards the dublin interchange. this is one of those fender- benders los altos hills southbound 280 approaching foothill. sounds like it's clearing. but just a heads up chp may still be on scene and there are some areas of overnight roadwork. quiet across the golden gate bridge right now. southbound past the waldo tunnel, various lanes blocked for at least another 20 minutes or so both directions across the deck of the golden gate bridge looking good. here's a live look at some of our sensors. a little slowing maybe coming towards the livermore area and westbound highway 4 a few brake lights not much heading past a street in antioch and mass transit no delay so far this morning for bar

>> reporter: raj, late this afternoon chp investigators found additional explosive devices here at the home. those devices have been placed in a hall in the front of the home and are covered with sandbags. the bomb squad intends to detonate them tomorrow. this is how last night ended in a home on humboldt avenue with a bomb squad detonating explosive material in the middle of a n m normally quiet santa clara neighborhood. chp investigators first obtained a search warrant for this house, they weren't looking for explosives. they were trying to determine if the man who lived here, 45-year-old everett, is linked to threats against a state elected official. today they scoured the house again and found even more explosive devices. they now place the devices in another hole in the front yard under these sandbags. chp officials say last nate's detonation went smoothly. >> they couldn't figure out exactly what the substance was. and then they eliminated the detonation. probably incontinue rate quickly and time for the device to work. >> reporter: as you might imagine all this has left neighbor

we are waiting on an update from chp. about of minutes ago they told me two officers were shot. a van from the coroner's office is here. officers say the scene is still unsecured. they are going door to door in the crime scene area. we saw an armor vehicle come through in the past 30 minutes. i did see two women from a preschool. there is a lock down there. they also told me they heard of the first initial shooting then another 50 or so gunshots. there are other schools in the area. i just spoke with the sheriff's spokesperson anarchy told me they are going into all the schools and putting every child -- and told me they are putting every child on a bus. each of those five schools within this perimeter, including the junior high, preschool, elementary school, they are loading those children on a bus and they are going to be taking them to the county building where they are going to be reunited with their parents. it is a very active scene with officers telling me they are still looking for another suspect. as you can tell, new details coming out, especially with how people are d
