according to chp their injuries are nonlife threatening. chp says they don't have a suspect at this time. >> the tacoma ran off the road after the incident. the suspect vehicle continued on. at this time it's unknown what the suspect vehicle is or who the suspects are. >> reporter: this isn't the only area that's been affected with shootings. chp says bay area freeways have been plagued with gang-related shootings in the last year and a half. 87 on the freeways and eight people have died. many of the shootings are happening on highway 80 and 4 between richmond and antioch and just so happens today the contra costa county board of supervisor will be meeting to discuss freeway shootings and also their plans to install freeway cameras and high tech microphones that hopefully will help catch some of these suspects. now, the total system is set to cost about $2 million. it wouldn't affect anything happening here along 880, just for highway 4 and 80, still they are hoping that this will catch some of the people behind the shootings. reporting liv

that is what we are being told from chp at this time. again, this began as a pursuit and ended in a crash. it looks like one vehicle that collided with a utility pole. that's all the information we have at this time. >> the person is in custody. thank you. >>> tonight, the alameda unified school district could decide if it elementary school will be shut down. parents of students at glum elementary on sam's creekway have held rallies to try to save the school. it's up to the school district. officials recommend closing the campus and sending the students to other schools this fall when classes begin. parents hire their own experts who determined seismic safety. >> the experts that we have gathered have all said that the data is not there. the district does not have sufficient information to say there is any safety risk posed. >> the parents say their experts came up with an inexpensive way to retrofit the school. now the district says it has a second recommendation to shutdown the school for safety reasons. tonight the district will hold

chp tells me the -- he was unconscious. he had been ejected from the vehicle but he was still breathing. investigators going with him to try to determine exactly what happened. this started in the san lorenzo area with chp officers trying to contact the driver of this vehicle. they said he was driving at a high rate of speed. his headlights were off when they tried to pull him over. he kept going. and you heard those speeds. up to 120 miles an hour southbound on 880 when he tried to get off here. this was at the alvarado/north fremont exit. he lost control of the vehicle and tumbled more than 50 yards to wind up here. the occupant of the vehicle was ejected. chp telling me at this time no one was injured in this vehicle accident other than the driver. at this point it's unclear what the driver's condition is. we do note that the southbound on ramp to 880 is closed. we are hearing it will be closed for another 45 minutes or an hour as investigators wrap up the investigation. there is a tow truck on scene. it seems they will

this is what we heard from the chp. >> starting at 12:15 we received calls of possible gunshot victims on southbound 101. healdsburg police department were the first on scene. they found two victims in the car on the right shoulder. what we have determined so far is that they were southbound 101 approaching west side road when an unknown vehicle pulled alongside, began firing at the driver's side of the victim's car. both the victim and the male passenger were hit. he was able to pull to the right shoulder and stop. >> reporter: that suspect vehicle did speed away from the scene. right now police are appealing to witnesses. they say maybe somebody saw something, but this is north bound on southbound 101, closed for about three and a half hours. traffic behind me moving swiftly in both directions. we're going to be talking with chp later to see if we can get more information on what transpired here this afternoon. >> rob malcolm, thanks for that breaking news. >>> more breaking news now. crews are in orinda in the village of lombardi lane where a car fire broke out an hour and a half ag
