chris. so the distinction that paul ryan is making here, he says that, yes, jeff sessions should recuse himself if the department is investigating jeff sessions, that he couldn't participate in that kind of investigation, but he did not call for sessions to recuse himself into investigations of trump campaign potential contacts with russians or with russian officials. that is a very different position obviously than where democrats are falling on this and different from where many other republicans, even in his on conference are falling. the house oversight chairman jason chaffetz has already called for jeff sessions to recuse himself from these investigations. i also think it's remarkable that he said, quote, there's nothing new here, end quote. so he is dismissing the story that has prompted all of this. there are reports that jeff sessions did in fact meet with the russian ambassador, even though he told the committee during his confirmation hearings that he had had no contacts with the russians. so a distinctly different tact from the house speaker here, gives you an indication of where hou
