christie smith is live at the scene. she joins us with the latest. >> reporter: good morning to you. oakland police are investigating a shooting that left a 40-year-old oakland man in critical condition. the scene is very active. i just spoke with police and they told me that the major crimes unit is coming out to 83rd and international where they have a person of interest in custody. that person inside of a house here for about 30 minutes while police did a search with their guns drawn. they are still piecing this together. what they tell me is about 1:00 this morning they got a call of gun fire on the street. when they arrived they found a man shot in the abdomen laid out in the middle of the sidewalk. what set this off they still don't know, but the victim was taken to eden medical center. he is in surgery right now, again in critical condition. i'm going to speak with the investigator, try to, when he comes back up this way because they are just arriving. as soon as i have that i'll bring that information to you. liv
