i'm christine maddela. i'm john huck. we're learning more about the man who called 911 from anthem in his car... to report he had been shot. fox5's adam herbets is live near st rose and bermuda with details about the victim... and efforts to find out what led to his death. medical examiners henderson man who died after being shot before crashing into a light pole early monday morning. according to the clark county coroner's office, the victim in the case was christopher stewart, 49. his cause and manner of death remained pending tuesday. henderson police said about 3:53 a.m., dispatchers received a 911 call from stewart who said he had been shot. while on the line, the man crashed his vehicle into a light pole located near anthem and bicentennial parkways. the man was taken to st. rose dominican hospital - siena campus, where he was pronounced dead. henderson detectives believe the victim had been at the bar, located at 11624 bermuda rd., until about 3:45 a.m.

i'm christine maddela. on any given night .. metro and surrounding agencies hand out dozens .. if not hundreds of dui tickets.. tonight .. they are focusing on one particularly dangerous spot. fox 5s cyndi and desert inn. john christine the checkpoint began at 7 and within the first 10 minutes two people were already pulled from their cars and being checked. metro says they try and do these checkpoints every month or every other month. about 30 officers are out here. and they've blocked a quarter mile cars are filing in. officers were instructed if they believe its not alcohol and drugs to alert someone immediately they were also told if you're dealing with a dui to make sure their body cameras are rolling. we talked to the lt of the traffic division about tonight's efforts... i'm christine maddela. its all part of project neon and this portion of the project is called 'carnado'. fox 5s cyndi lundeberg joins us now live to break down what you need to know. project neon began at about 10 tonight. major parts of the i-15... 95 and martin luther king will be affected. lets kind of show you the areas we are talking about here... if you're driving from southbound i-15 to northbound u.s. 95, you'll be detoured from lake mead boulevard south king and back to the 95. those traveling from northbound i-15 to northbound 95 will be detoured to the martin luther king exit ramp. you'll then re-enter northbound 95 and move along a temporary lane. those headed from northbound 95 to martin luther king need to leave themselves plenty of time. drivers will be routed to rancho drive, make a u-turn, re-enter the 95 in the opposite direction and eventually make their way back to martin luther king. those headed from southbound i-15 to martin luther king will exit at lake mead boulevard and head west.

i'm christine maddela. the shooting lead police on a nearly four-hour standoff with the armed suspect. fox five's cyndi lundeberg is live near lake mead and rampart. she spoke to police and neighbors at the scene. an 80 year old grandmother was by her grandson. we can't show you much of the scene right now because the victom is still in the street where she was shot. here is video from the barricade situation earlier... police say they were fighting in the home then the grandmother ran out into the street that's where she was shot in the head. that 40 year old suspects 18 year old son was home closed captioning will resume shortly the suspect was running through backyards but now say it was his own backyard where he barricaded himself. swat teams and crisis negotiators came on scene and negotiated with the suspect.... he surrendered at about 8 tonight. police said no one in the home had a criminal record. the 40 year old suspect is now being charged with murder with a deadly weapon. police are continuing to

i'm christine maddela. the comes after allegations of animal cruelty. fox5's abby theodros joins us live near vegas dr and decatur after neighbors... those neighbors tell me this used to be a boarding stable for horses but all thats left is this sign that says 21 horses and 39 chickens were confiscated i talked to police about this situation and they say that specialists encountered conditions consistent with animal cruelty. specifically -they said that the conditions at the property could likely cause sickness, injury or death to the animals. we talked with a neighbor today who is friends with the family that owns the property ..he says the stable has been around for decades and was recently handed down from the owner to his son after he passed away "to me it just seems like their nit picking and their trying to justify what they did today because there is some stuff around the corners of the property ...and i didn't have a who you just heard from said he used to keep his horse at this stable and was happy with the care. he described it as a self serve
