san francisco is a beautiful city. often people will remark that homes in san francisco are built right next to each other. what people don't see from street view are the extensive backyards, gardens, and patios. as here, there are beautiful gardens and so much to enjoy beyond what you see from the streets. this project will serve to highlight and restore the yerba buena gardens and invite the public to all the site has to offer. the children's human, i see them coming out here parts of the celebration, thank you for being here and this playground and more. the bay hills are beautified with plants and through an artist imagination to follow and to invite residents, visitors, and transit riders emerging from the new transit station into this space to enjoy the yerba buena gardens. we look forward to watching this project transform the site into a cleaner, more attractive and inviting place that we can all be very proud of. with that said, please help me welcome ms. carmen chiu our city administrator. you know, i'm from the city just like you from the city. i'm born and raised in this neighborhood, so when they asked us to come, we walked here. and when we're done, we going to walk back because guess what? we belong here. this is our neighborhood, this is our community. our motto is it takes the hood to save the hood. what does that mean? that means all of us collectively, the mayor, the homeless people, the drug dealers, everyone in this community makes collectively this neighborhood happen. now, one important thing that i want to say is the mayor -- the late mayor, ed lee, who was a big -- who made a big impact in this process of happening, may he rest in peace. he was there and fought, and if there's one thing we like, you know that, london, we like to fight. one thing that i understand and i know about community building with one another, that we can only be stronger when we work together, so when you see all of us as part of coming together, these are the things that happen. this right here was a parking lot that was dilapidated. it

for all the efforts that we all do for our beautiful city that we love. you set an example for everyone and we are truly grateful for that. you know, my father talking about family anecdotes, when i was younger, he said you have to be stronger than everybody else around you because if you have a husband who leaves you with five kids, you need to be able to take care of yourself. luckily, that did not happen and i ended up with a very supportive husband who is always supportive of all of my efforts on a daily basis and as you mentioned, mayor breed, i love our city. i love every inch of our city and i believe that every single one of us is here because we truly believe in our efforts to enhance and preserve our -- what we want to do for the youth and for investing in early education and celebrating the strong legacy in arts and culture. so we're all here i think with a common theme of our love for san francisco and i really appreciate this recognition. and someone said if actually we had an all-women group chat late at night inspired by ruth bader ginsburg
