the no-philly grocery tax coalition is hosting this pop-up display at city hall. hat group says these are all the beverages that would be subject to higher taxes and that could lead to higher grocery bills for you. city council has been meeting for the last hour and a half, and this is a live look from inside city hall. members will decide whether or not to approve a 1.5 cents an ounce tax on all sugary drinks. city council also said a prayer for the victims in the orlando massacre. >>> this is the final vote on the sugary tax bill. it failed here twice before, but this time, it is expected to pass. the majority of the money raised will go to fund universal pre-kindergarten throughout the city, creating about 6500 new slots for children waiting to enroll in that program. another chunk of the revenue would help revitalize recreational centers throughout the city. and here are some young supporters of the soda tax. these preschoolers visited city hall this morning to thank council members ahead of the vote and to create a fun science experiment using soda and mentos.
