chopper 4 flew over frederick road this clarksburg last night around 7:30 shortly after a woman was hit. the woman was crossing frederick road when a car traveling north hit her. it's not known whether there are any charges against the driver who did stay on the scene. >>> and take a look at this fire, it destroyed a family business in silver spring. this fire broke out on georgia avenue overnight. two other restaurants were also damaged. megan mcgrath has more on the investigation into what sparked ded this fire. >> reporter: if you look behind me, you can see just how extensive the damage is. the charred tables and chairs have been brought out here on the sidewalk. and investigators believe that an electrical problem likely caused this fire inside the bombay gaylord restaurant. they also believe it was probably burning for a while before patrons at a nearby bar saw the smoke and then called 911 realizing that there was a fire in the restaurant up above them. now, extensive damage the fire essentially gutted the restaurant. for a time, georgia avenue was closed down. at this point, tho

it happened just before 8:00 on frederick road in clarksburg. montgomery county police say 67-year-old betty lou vest lived in that neighborhood. they say she was trying to cross the road and she was struck by a car. the driver stopped and the accident is still under investigation. leon: the man charged in three murders in leks -- alexandria was back in court this morning. charles severance's hearing included an argument about his shackles. reporter: charles severance is back inside the courthouse today. severance sat quiet today. the judge today during this hearing granting the defense additional hours for investigators for the defense to continue their work. also in court today, the defense telling the judge the shackles that charles severance wears were causing discomfort to severance. the judge asked what is the rationale behind why severance was in those shackles? we have now learned that the defense plans to file a motion in all of this. now, one thing today not decided in court is the competency issue in this case. now, we do expect to ge
