we'll see upper 90s for clearlake and ukiah.ou can see the wide-ranging temperatures we'll have today and we're expecting more of the same tomorrow. not all of the bay area will be heating up but we'll be from 101 in clearlake for tomorrow afternoon to 79 in freemont and 85 in san jose and then some upper 60s for half moon bay. so there will be quite a range there as we see this heat dome across the pacific northwest bring those extreme temperatures and it's going to start to back off and move over towards the desert southwest and we're in for normal weather as we go into the rest of the week. just a couple days of some hot temperatures and saying thank goodness we are not in portland. 115 degrees today, but we know with climate change that we can see more extreme heat events like this and who knows, by the -- some time in the summer we could be seeing some of the same temperatures. it looks fairly good all week long. heading through the fourth of july with highs in the mid 80s. mike, what's going on with the morning commute? >>

we're starting out anywhere from 53 degrees to 75 in clearlake and clearlake was really sizzling yesterday. so we are going to have a cool down for all of us today as that fog lingers near the coast. take a look at our range in temperatures. 63 degrees for a high at half moon bay and 95 in ukiah. antioch today will be cooler with a high of 8 6 degrees. we'll talk about a cooling trend in our forecast. mike, any problems right now for the commute? >> i just wanted to touch on the crash i was talking about over here, milpitas. sounds like it's only affecting the mcarthur on ramp. no major injuries and right by the shopping area getting on to the highway there. 237 itself as well as the rest of the south bay freeways just fine. the peninsula moves smoothly. the crash 380 at el ka minogue no major injuries. a look at the golden gate bridge as kari was talking about, there's fog in the area. you see the typical drive or don't see part of the typical drive across the golden gate bridge. they're ready for the morning commute and that's about it. >>> coming up here on "today in the bay," pulling o

san francisco in the mid to upper 60s and north bay temperatures reaching up to 86 degrees in clearlakebe that warm in napa. we're looking at a high there as well as santa rosa up to 74 degrees. so what's happening here? we're getting a strong ocean breeze, but as we head towards the end of the week, high pressure will start to build and change our wind direction. instead of us getting this cool ocean air, we'll see the winds blowing off the coast and it's going to push that marine layer back and our temperatures in the inland areas, especially between saturday and sunday, really starting to heat up once again. let me show you san jose's seven-day forecast. how we're trending here, very nice and mild over the next few days, even into friday staying in the 70s. then on saturday, those temperatures jump up to the low 80s and we'll see some mid 80s by sunday and some spots will reach into the 90s. that's what we'll see for our warmest spots in the inland valleys, into the upper 70s for the next few days. by friday looking at mostly low 80s, 91 on saturday. if you have outdoor plans this we

heat warning saturday through tuesday and look at the high temperatures tomorrow, ukiah, lakeport, clearlakettest of the hot weather is even farther north, places that are not prepared for this kind of heat, temperatures tomorrow 111 in redding, 104 degrees in portland and that's not even the hot day in the forecast for them. it's going to get to 109 degrees in portland sunday. that's the new all time record high temperature for that city regardless of which date. seattle gets into the action on monday. their all time record is 103. they'll reach up to 105 degrees on monday. hopefully the heat starts to back off as we head into the middle of next week. back to the bay area's forecast, our temperatures are going to back off sunday and monday. that little storm system off the coast will crack the heatwave before it really even has a chance to get going. we return to the low 90s tuesday and wednesday, but that's not that hot for this time of year and around the bay and along the coast you won't notice a huge difference in temperatures even as the heat kind of goes up and down farther away from

and our north bay temperatures will range from the upper 60s in mill valley to upper 80s in clearlake our sunshine and ocean breeze continues here but there's a surge of monsoonal moisture across the desert southwest. what's happening for arizona and around the vegas area. southern california getting in on some rain. we're watching out for the potential there could be some thunderstorms and lightning as they're starting out with temperatures around vegas at 90 degrees. that's going to be miserable. we're going to see changes here as we're looking at some warmer weather for the weekend as high pressure builds and we're going to get that going into saturday as well as sunday and into early next week. we will be heating up in spots like livermore going from the upper 70s and low 80ss to the low to mid 90s for the weekend. make sure you make those plans to try to stay cool. mike, what's going on right now for the morning commute? >> we have an alert for folks in the trv trivalley the problem for the commute northbound 680 mission north 238 looking up toward vargas past the vargas exit whe

up to 64 and we'll see a high of 72 in mill valley but look at how it's going to be in ukiah and clearlake reaching the upper 90s some of the spots that will be heating up this weekend as high pressure moves in. the real intense heat will be across the pacific northwest and that's really going to cause some record temperatures for the weekend. some of the hottest weather they've ever seen, take a look at some of these numbers for tomorrow. it's going to have huge impacts and seattle reaching 99 degrees and some of these spots very rairl reach 100 but we could see that in portland tomorrow. mike pointed out, portland hotter than las vegas. our temperatures come up a little bit, but it's not going to be as hot as it was last week. we're looking at our inland temperatures reaching the mid 90s tomorrow and then not so bad on sunday, but we do still have upper 80s and low 90s into next week. san francisco we're going to keep it cool here upper 60s and low 70s at least through the middle of next week. mike, coming up this weekend we don't want to see any of that activity on the roads. >> there's

what to expect for today, reaching 103 in fairfield. 66 in half moon bay stays comfortable. 106 in clearlake and ukiah today. we'll have a wide range in temperatures not only today but the weekend we'll talk more about that in a few minutes. mike, what is the update on the breaking news? >> the' not your typical friday drive. the peninsula has slowing. don't see that any of the four days but especially friday. south 101 marsh road a crash blocks your left two lanes. right two lanes get by, the traffic is backed up to the exit prior. folks may be getting off and going to ray road that is moving smoothly but a lot of the signals there and longer drive getting toward middlefield, both take you down to willow where you can get back onto 101 and the one short section of slowing that alert has been called by chp and indeed that slowing we saw northbound 101 approaching oakland road there was a crash there, a number of vehicles i believe two or three got over to the shoulder there, so lanes are clear now. the early impact and the slowing as everything cleared up to the shoulder, distraction north f

and our north bay temperatures anywhere from 68 in mill valley to 87 in clearlake and sonoma, 77 degrees. we've had a strong ocean breeze, but that's going to kick off towards the east as we're getting ready for high pressure to move in. we know that low pressure has kept us cool so we know what high pressure is going to do as we go into the weekend. it's going to heat us up and change our wind direction and heat up for our inland areas. i wanted to show you livermore. our trend for the next seven days, we have mild weather through friday, saturday heat up and the heat kind of hangs around for a while with highs in the low 90s. we're not talking about record-breaking heat here. we are going to see a spike in our temperatures reaching into the 90s from saturday into tuesday at least and once again we can just enjoy the next few days while it's still nice and cool. san francisco doesn't see too much of a change here. we're going from the upper 60s to the mid 70s. mike, what's going on right now for the morning commute? >> i'm sorry i'm interpreting if you're practicing for that murphy good

our north bay temperatures will reach into the upper 70s, even up to some mid 80s for clearlake and napawe start to really see our heat ramping up. i'm going to stop it here. 3:00 tomorrow afternoon, we're seeing some upper 90s in some spots in parts of the north bay, inland east bay some mid-90s, but thursday is the day when it gets the hottest, and we could see some triple-digit temperatures from concord to livermore, to morgan hill, as well as santa rosa. still dangerous heat. let me show you concord in our seven-day forecast here. so some low 90s for today, but then we could see it up to 107 heading to thursday pretty hot for the weekend. mike how is it looking for the morning commute? >> a light traffic flow. getting started kicking in typical for san jose. starts 5:30 instead of 5:30, different for soil convalley, slowing southbound 101 heading down toward 380 and down past sfo. same pattern as yesterday, just wanted to call out again the slowing out of san francisco and in towards 380. we do have a traffic crew clearing from spencer at 101 and maybe a little slowing there and the
