a brushfire breaking outovernight in south san jose. >> near the coyote creek golf course. khom, we hear you have good news for us right now. >> reporter: well, the good news is they got this out quickly. the grasses here are very dry. it looks like what happened the car was clipping along santa teresa boulevard going northbound and hit this power pole, undercut it. the pole went down and the wires hit the dry grasses and it started burning up the hillside east of highway 101 and power lines just to the east of us. and it did burn about an acre of grasses. good thing it didn't get into the deeper brush just above that because it really could have taken off. san jose firefighters and cal firefighters got on this pretty quickly. they were able to contain it to about an acre. however, we did notice coming in today there is a local power outage. we don't know how widespread it is. there were no streetlights coming in. there were pg&e crews on hand. they just left a minute ago after they got the power to this down pole shut down. we do not know when it will be back on or how man
