cydney long spoke to the victim's family tonight. >> reporter: a sneaker footprint on the back door, dna evidence on the victim's shirt and video of 19-year-old brandon wilson on hopkins street in woodbury. that's what led investigators to charge him with murder. >> they executed approximately 30 search warrants, various residents as well as electronic device. >> reporter: all proof that wilson killed shawnique by hitting her in the head. she was watching two kids. wilson used to live in that home as a foster child. his motive was burglary. her body was upstairs. the little boys in school uniforms notified neighbors that she was hurt. >> she is never forgotten. we always want to always remember her and love her. i am going to do everything i can to make sure that my grandson lives a normal life. >> reporter: wilson is charged with first-degree murder, possession of a weapon as well as hindering apprehension. he called his parents and asked them to dispose of a pair of sneakers that he was wearing when he kicked in the back door. >> physical evidence linking the defendant to the crime

cydney long is live in camden. this community is really coming together and talking with police tonight. >>> i can tell you police in this community are bonding in a big way. for one, the police officers are barbecuing for families out here. take as voice concerns about it. it comes 20 hours after a police officer was shot and fought the suspect who threatened his life. >> he's a bad guy. he's 19 years old. he has three felony convictions. >> reporter: when he ran from police wednesday night, he was prepared to take an officer's life. that officer is now considered a hero despite taking a bullet to his right thigh, he tackled the suspect. >> he was able to rip the gun out of his hands, toss it off to the side and at the same time overpower the suspect. >> backup officers not before he tried to shoot the officer in the face after the first to his leg miraculously the gun jammed. >> when the gun is fired at close range, fire and hot gun powder come out the end of the gun. >> reporter: it left a round mark on his leg.
