. >>> the news edge on d.c. with new developments on suspicious letters support to d.c. public schools. 10 more letters arrived today. that brings the total number of letters to 39 now and fox 5s audrey barnes has more. >> reporter: the 10 new letters that arrived today are similar in style and content to the 29 that were retrieved yesterday and while forensic experts are trying to find the person responsible. the letters that arrived here at ban croft elementary other and schools were quickly isolated, away from students and staff until the fbi could retrieve them. all 39 of the letters received have printed labels and have references to al qaeda with a white powder. they're on the way to the fbi's lab in quantico, virginia, for analysis and in the meantime, school officials and postal workers were warned to look out for key clues that others were related. >> we tried to make sure it's coming from anything that looks suspicious. >> nervous at all? >> no. like i said, i have done it before and been through it when we had the anthrax thing, no, i'm fine. >> so far, no one

according to d.c.rt records obtained by news 4, norwood was the subject of a stay away order after her ex-boyfriend made a domestic violence complaint against her. that ex-boyfriend, maury branch iii, a dentist in northwest. the stay away order dated back in october 2007. a month later, branch's new girlfriend filed another complaint against norwood. this time for stalking. there was a summons to bring norwood to court. but there was no court hearing and the case faded away. now we tried to talk to dr. branch about norwood today but he sent word that he was unavailable. brittany norwood, charged with killing co-worker jayna murray last month at the lululemon store in bethesda. the prosecutor says murray was beaten and cut in an attack that went on for more than 20 minutes. and that norwood staged the crime scene to make it seem like two men committed the murder. captain dave gillespie is the head of the major crimes division for the montgomery county police department. he says he's aware of the domesti

the former d.c.axicab commission chairman tells 9 news now tonight he was placed on 15 days administrative leave and not allowed to return to his office this week. he says in that office, a personal records that deal with his undercover role in helping the fbi arrest more than 40 cab drivers and others on alleged bribery charges. most of those cases are still pending. mayor vincent gray is said to be in our studios tomorrow night at 11:00 for our interview. we plan to ask about the firing of the communications director. the mayor said he wants to move in a different direction. >>> a murder/suicide attempt leaves one person dead. tonight, police officers were called to an apartment in the 400 block of north summit avenue around 11:00 this morning. when they arrived, they found a man and his girlfriend suffering from gunshot wounds. the man was pronounced dead at the scene. the woman was taken to the hospital in what police describe as very serious conditions. >>> a dramatic rescue in northwest warrant
