damien trujillo is live with more on what we can all expect. good morning, damien. >> reporter: good morning, jon. this meeting here at ucsf gets under way at 9:00 this morning. it will be heated. you can see some police are still arriving. police have been all around this campus making sure things don't get out of hands. they had to cancel their last meeting for fears of violence by student protesters. this morning they'll hold their meeting on a television screen at ucla, at ucsf and at uc davis. davis is where students say they'll shut down the campus just days after that now famous pepper spraying incident by campus police. the students this time will have one hour of open forum to voice their concerns or anger at the regents. the allotted time during normal meetings is 20 minutes. the system cannot continue to function without one big change. >>> what people need to realize is you have to find revenues. from where, from whom? how much? >> and again security will be fight at today's meeting. some might say it's presidential with the security

live in oakland, damien trujillo, back to you. >>> another shooting in a quiet south san jose neighborhood sending one man to the hospital. it happened just before midnight on apple blossom drive. the officer found a man shot several time. they say his injuries don't appear to be life threatening. the man is now in the hospital. police have not named any suspects. >>> we could learn about what happened at a wal-mart. they have developed critical information that needs to be shared with the community. police say at least two suspects attacked a family leaving wal-mart early friday morning. >>> black friday pepper spray incident may have been self defense. the woman involved showed up at the police department on saturday she was not arrested. detectives are looking at security and youtube videos like this one. you can hear people say i'm being trampled. detectives interviewed 14 witnesses and talked to a dozen shoppers about the incident. the case will hinge on whether the pepper spraying was self defense or inappropriate shopping tactics. >>> activists will be turning to frank ogawa plaza.

damien trujillo is live in oakland with what the rapper is saying about the shooting and the rash of ce in the city. good morning, damien. >> well, he calls it senseless. laura, good morning. that child is here in critical condition at children's hospital in oakland. the rapper says that child has swelling of the brain because he was struck bhi the bullets. police are looking for the shooters that happened in west oakland. the child's father is a rapper and is building a music video at the time of the shooting. he tells my his promotion van was at the building. he was in the richmond recording studio. but he doesn't believe he was the target because he doesn't have any enemies. even though his van with his picture on it was shot several times. >> i don't know what was going on. i doubt i was the target. in the studio every day. i doubt i was the target of the situation. >>> he tells me the violence in oakland has to stop. he says a friend of his was killed in the same neighborhood just two weeks ago. now his little cousin remains in critical condition here at children's hospital. >> s

we're live in east san jose, i'm dami damien tan trujillo. >>> now to the flash point in oakland. after a mostly peaceful day and night of demonstration yesterday, it turned ugly really in the midnight hour. a small group of violent protesters wreak eed havoc on t city, vandalizing and setting fires in the early morning hours. oakland remains in a precarious spot debating its next step and just what to do about the occupy movement. nbc bay area's tracy grant has a look at the impact on local businesses but we begin with jodi hernandez with reaction today from city leaders. this is a question i don't think anyone can answer. what do they plan on doing from here? >> reporter: that is a very good question. things got very ugly out here last night. everybody, nearly everybody is outraged about it, including the folks here at occupy oakland who say a small splinter group is responsible for the destruction. now, a special meeting is taking place inside city hall at this moment. the city council is talking about the occupy demonstrations. tonight mayor jean quan says she continues to sup
