hello, everyone, i am dana dana perino. the house impeaching president trump for the second time days before he set to leave office. the house charging him with inciting an interaction after the chaos of the capital last week. the vote coming down along mostly party lines but ten republicans joining democrats to remove president trump. here is some of the passionate debate today. >> we know that the president of the united states incited this insurrection. he must go. he is a clear and present danger to the nation. >> we can argue back and forth but you are using this as a weapon and you're destroying this experiment in self-government. america is still under attack, and that's why donald trump must be impeached. >> if it continues it won't just be republicans who get canceled. he won't just be the president of the united states. the cancel culture will come for us all. >> we invoke the remedy the founders provided. >> some have cited the metaphor that the president let the flame. they lit actual flames, actual fires. >> do

>> dana: i thought it was a great interview.ne of the reasons why i was afraid on sunday night, i didn't want to go outside and play in the backyard on sundays because i was afraid i would miss 60 minutes. so my dad would set the alarm on the stove so that i could hear it from outside and make it inside and time to watch 60 minutes. she doesn't have a good answer on that because there isn't a good answer on it, but she did make a political calculation. she thinks it worked for her but the democrats are now in a weak position. granted, they just won the senate seat so they're in a much stronger position that way but in the house, they're weaker. if every incumbent won reelection and if republicans need something to rally around right now, the democrats seem intent on giving them just what they need whether it be nominees they think are way too far to the left or ideas about increasg energy costs, raising taxes, things like that. she's going to have a tougher time than she has had the last few years. >> brian: she does not like be

dana, how incredible is this reporting? you heard jonathan martin's excellent reporting that the soon-to-be minority leader mitch mcconnell is pleased that the democrats are moving ahead to impeach the president of the united states and that mcconnell himself might actually vote in favor of conviction. >> mitch mcconnell is not somebody who emotes in public. and what we saw, the anger with which he spoke not once but twice on january 6th, before the riots and the attack effectively on him and all of his colleagues, not to mention the building that they work in. he was incredible angry. another byproduct of that is the fact that his wife, elaine chao, who was president trump's transportation secretary, she resigned. now, you could argue maybe she should have stayed and tried to coordinate other cabinet members to push the 25th amendment, but she decided to quit. but with regard to mitch mcconnell, as phil said, he has not -- my understanding, and our colleagues as well, he has not spoken to president trump since mitch mcconn
