tracie, good morning. >> reporter: darlene, good morning to you. the advisory warning residents about this can be summed up in this equation. hot weather plus little rainfall equals a taxed water system here in mahwah. they're imposing a mandatory restriction that goes into effect tomorrow. if you go around town, you can see the sprinklers on all over the place at any time of the day. they're trying to put the kibosh on that. officials are worried about water reserves and the high number of people watering lawns and gardens and washing cars could lead to a possible drought. mahwah officials will allow even numbered homes to water lawns only on monday, wednesday and friday. odd number homes on tuesday, thursday and saturday. nobody can do it on sundays and violators could face fines according to the town's mayor.
