allie rasmus is at delores park right now. us what we know about what happened out there. >> reporter: well, this apparently happened around 7:00 yesterday evening. 19th and delores where there were hundreds of skateboarders who had gather the for an informal event, a race or skateboarding event. they call it hill bombing where they go down 19th street, they block off the street and barrel down the hill on their skateboards. neighbors in the area had complained to police that the street was blocked off to traffic and they were concerned about safety so police arrived to try to break up the event. you can see from the video how large the crowd still was. hundreds of skateboarders in the area closed off the street after police had already arrived. police ordered the group to leave. around that time, two of the skateboarders coming down the hill wiped out, including one that collided with a police officer. cell phone video appears another skater who crashes into a police patrol car blocking the street. he looks visibly injured af

watch as a police officer and skate border collide on delores street last night during an informal skate boarding competition that drew hundreds to the park. watch again in slow motion, some were outraged saying it looks like the officer sticks his arm out causing him to call. then a police spokesman says it is hard to tell. what they know is they collided. and the officer was taken to the hospital with a shoulder injury. police say they tried to offer aid to the skater, but couldn't find him in the crowd. police were called when people complained that skaters had taken over delores street and cars couldn't get through. it turned into a standoff. police in riot gear say skaters were throwing things and yelling. one nearby resident heard what was happening but didn't to want go outside. >> skate borders brought out like a huge force of cops. so it was just fascinating. >> reporter: two police cars were damaged with graffiti and a broken window. >> it bothered me that the -- there was another police car that was vandalized, there was trash, like the back windows was broken in. that, to me, is excessive. that's not necessary at all. so that
