derrick ward is live with what could affect you? >> reporter: good morning. we're at the station. it's open today but it won't open tomorrow because of some changes happening in the name of safety. take a look. here is the map. this is essentially going to make the naylor road station the end of the line. this is until august 20th. they're going to replace cross ties and use the station rehab. they're going to be replacing crossovers. those are important pieces of rail infrastructure. if you remember, back in july of 2016, there was a derailment at the east falls church station because of a failure at a crossover. something else you need to know. on two weekends this month, the naylor road station will be closed on august 12th and 13th and august 19th and 20th. they're going to close that station for the same reason, to extend some of that work. you're being told to take the anacostia or southern avenue stations. this is all part of metro's ongoing safety enhancement program as well as some preventative a little bit of pain for now. we're live at branch avenue. derrick ward, back
