cnn's diane gallagher joining me live. diane, what's the latest with this back and forth? we know is this morning those 52 civil arrest warrants signed by the texas house speaker will be delivered to the sergeant at arms to serve. what happens after that, that's still unclear. all of this unfolded last night just hours after that texas supreme court, which is all controlled by republicans, overturned a democratic district court judge's ruling that would have made it -- it would have blocked them from being able to arrest or serve these warrants on those members. now, this is not the first time that the republican members of the house have voted to send law enforcement after their democratic colleagues in an effort to force them to come to the house so they can have quorum and do legislative business. they did the same thing in july. the difference here is that those warrants are only -- they only have jurisdiction within the state of texas. last month, all of those democrats were in washington, d.c., or at least out of the state. right now several of them have returned to

diane gallagher joins us now with the latest on this. what have you learned, diane?, 38 days after those texas democrats got on planes and flew to washington, d.c., receiving praise from the white house on down, their form break ended with a whimper instead of a bang. the attempt was to block restrictive voting legislation in the lone star state as they had the slimmest of margins. tonight three new democrats showed up on the house floor giving the texas house the quorum that it needs to conduct legislative business. those members issued a statement saying that they were proud of what they had accomplished but they thought it was time to get back to work on the floor citing the surge in covid-19 as the reason why they decided to come back. i'll tell you, anderson, that their fellow democrats seemed surprised even accusing them of faking them out saying that they had had a two-hour caucus meeting earlier in the day and this had not been discussed. and anderson, they had been chipping away for a while. they went up to washington, d.c., spent weeks up there trying to lo
