it has never been done before. frankly, it should be done now. the fact the matter is, they are playing parliamentary tricks with regard to this. they are doing to the detriment of the united states senate, to the detriment of the minority. i have been in the majority and the minority and number of times. i have to tell you, i will fight for the rights of the minority. that is one way that united states senate is the most important legislative body in the world. right now, if we go the route that the majority leader and the democrats are going, it is going to be a very destructive thing. they will say they are eliminating -- once used on -- want to start on that road, it is a pandora's box buried there is no end to what one side or the other can do. the have to be very careful because a lot of the things they hold dear could go by the wayside if the majority was to change. the protection of the rights of the minority, that is one of the ways that has the senate has become the greatest ~ body in the world. the big of a bill and file cloture immedi

we've done the curb ramp. we got the final funding for the san francisco std clinic on 7th street and also for the elevator installation at the maxiseen health clinic. these jobs are designed and in drawing as we speak. we have the final funding for the renovation at the elevator and the elevator rehabilitation process in the homes. that's a $6 million project. building 8090 building and we had elevators that was in critical need of renovation and that project is $4 .2 million. our 8090 elevators, we have our building permits and we certified the contract last week so we're happy. yay! for the arts commission, the council made priorities as to which project should we do first and which should come later down the pike and obviously public health and human services were important. it's hard to do work inside of san francisco general hospital so we knew we had a long ark of projects there. we finished up our projects in civic buildings so we're moving into the arts commission chlts we've done work at the african

if you have done so, let the person know that you have had the place inspected. that makes the case go away. certainly, it lessens the likelihood you were going to be sued. if you need more time, talk to the tenants or talk to the person suing you, sending you the letter. get some additional time. they do not have elyria. what you need to do is find out what your rights are, and if you need to make repairs or remediations, do it because you are going to have to do it sometime during the course of litigation if there is a problem with access to your premises, so long as the renovations are readily achievable. if it does not so much cost that it is so excess of for the amount of revenue being generated for your business, you have to make -- the way to look at it is let's say it takes $50,000 to renovate or remedy a the property for business. if your business is generating $100,000 a year in revenues, you clearly are not going to come up with $50,000 to make the changes, at least not in year one. but some of it you can do in year one. that percentage is not in a fix

the research has been done sub rosa, it's been done without notations being done, it's been done without their knowledge, it's been done in a shadowy, secret way. and it's also not necessarily therapeutic. as i detailed in "medical apartheid," a great deal of nontherapy piewsic, harmful, stigmatizing research has been conducted without being fully documented or fully acknowledged so that this mitt that we are somehow under-- this myth that we are somehow underrepresented is only true if you're looking at therapeutic research. and that leafs for the conundrum. it's not really an easy set of concepts to keep in mind, but we do have to remember two things, in my opinion, and that is that we do need, we do need to be participants in research because we need to benefit from research perhaps more than other americans. but we have to do so with vigilance. we have to do so mindfully, we have to do so with all the protections which leads me to my final myth i'm going to address here today, and has the myth of informed consent. most of us quite rationally believe that should we choose to engage in
