our chief meteorologist, doug kammerer tells us just how long they could last, just ahead in a few minutes sixth leading cause of death in our country. right now, nearly 6 million americans live with alzheimer's. despite major research, there is still no effective prevention ot trent for this awful disease. the "washington post" is reporting this morning that a major drug company may have uncovered positive results from an existing product but ultimately passed on investigating it further. erica gonzalez is hereith it. >> pharmashowed the drug embrill showed promising gns despite the risks but they opted against looking further into it. the arthritis drug seemed to reduce alzheimer's risk by 64%. an iternal document obtained by the post said embrill could ventually treat and slow progression. but verifying would require costly clinical trials. they told the post embrill did not directly affect brain tissue and felt succeal for tri to be low. it estimated cost to be about $80 million. that sounds like a lot ofmoney but reports show they made $2bi ion alone off embrill last year and a source
