"he had the courage to leave mines of dubuque." community members honoring his legacy. families here in eastern iowa are doing their best to help those in the hurricane's path. kcrg-tv nine's jordee kalk joins us now. jordee, some iowans have a connection to haiti. three catholic churches in eastern iowa have a sister parish about 20 miles outside of port au prince, haiti. so far, there has not been any known deaths or even injuries within the parish staff or congregations. the churches says the and time to find safe shelter. there are 12 chapels inside the sister parish. and each chapel has a school attached. staff there say their primarily concerned about its students' education. the children are safe, but the hurricane's damage will affect the children in the future.
