across the americas as opposed to the eastern pacific the atlantic has been quite quiet in terms of tropical storms. we have the third tropical storm named cristobol. this one will likely intensify to a hurricane by wednesday night and move away from the united states as we go into the next several days because of a stationary system it is expected to produce heavy rainfall probably about 200 millimeters or even 300 millimeters in central parts of the bahamas for the next several days. watch out for flooding as well as mudslides. flooding concerns remains quite high over the western parts of the great lakes region. we have flooding problems coming out of chicago and other areas. residents in the midwestern region in the united states dealt with flooding at the end of this week. flood waters at the end of the week. flood waters soaked homes and cars when rainfall rates up to 70 millimeters fell in less than an hour. up to 200 millimeters fell in parts of the area. roads had to be closed as many neighborhood streets were completely under water. we really don't need more rainfall but i'm afraid

we're going to take a quick look in the eastern pacific. we have two systems to talk about. one of these systems, hurricane ezele, a very powerful system, you can tell by the clearly defined eye. this is first moving toward the west and heading toward hawaii. then behind that julio, currently a tropical storm, it is expected to also become a hurricane. so timing of the system, we're looking toward thursday, friday before ezele arrives in hawaii, then julio right behind it as we go into friday, saturday, sunday. when the impacts start to increase. so heavy rainfall expected as we go toward the end of this week. we have another tropical system to talk about in the western pacific as we take a look at east asia. it is a very slow mover moving toward the north at 15 kilometers per hour. it is setting its sights for western japan. we are looking out for the possibility of seeing some heavy rainfall and strong withins going to thursday and friday for okinawa, into kyushu. you do not need more rain in western japan. you've already been saturated with heavy amounts of rainfall this

restrength men a hurricane, is in the completely out of the question to have one named storm in the eastern pacificut it is rare to have two storms to be taking direct aim at hawaii island. here's what we're looking at. it looks like iselle will have main impact. we will look at both systems. we will start with iselle a category two. it does run into dryer air that will help weaken the storm but look at this it takes a direct aim at the big island of hawaii island here so many towns in that area could have widespread power outages, flooding, wash out roads, whole mixed bag. now julio although it is a category one hurricane runs in the same fate, dryer air will tear it apart but it is at this point expected to curve to the north which would hopefully mean that we don't to have deal with any direct impact only so far inland you can go on the hawaii island. back here at home we are dealing with our fair share of tropical issues. thankfully they are indirect concerns. we have strong rip currents and strong swells and surf at the shoreline today. just swim by life guards if you do it at all. we have a f

that would be hurricane julio down in the eastern pacific, relevant because the hawaiian my lands, hit storm iselle, first time by the way that any hawaiian island was hit by tropical system in the past 22 years. julio is weakening, category two earlier, now category one, about 365 miles east-northeast of hilo hawaii, hardest hit, winds sustained at 90 miles an hour. other good news, julio is not expected to directly hit hat we and islands, will stay well north of hilo, of honolulu, i can't even say all those islands, but staying north of all of them. it will continue to weaken as we head into monday, and then tuesday, into tropical system. that being said, hawaiian islands will still feel the pact of rough seas, high surf. mainlands, enjoying high pressure overhead in philadelphia, clear skies tonight heavy showers, thunderstorms, flashflooding in good portion of north carolina where people had to be rescued due to training thunderstorms. that's luckily toward our south. feel for them. that weather is not going to be moving newspaper our area. we should get another real nice day tomor

earlier where that's comin from, but now let's take a look at what's going on way over in the eastern pacific. >> take a look. that is hurricane julio that is right behind. what i like is the fact that the track on julio will take it just to the north. it's still right now sitting just to the west side of the big island already out in the pacific about ready to make its way westward. its winds right now are at 50 miles per hour. it will continue on for saturday, for sunday. not likely to see any heavy rain coming to some of the lower islands there, and the track of julio, i posted it here for you, you can see it's just to the north. that one hopefully will continue to track more to the north of the islands as well and staying clear. for our area, again, we talked about the possibility of some cloud cover on saturday and, in fact, saturday there could be that isolated shower. i'm calling it showers for some, with a temperature of 85 agrees. this is your yardwork impact forecast and humidity, again, just not that high at all. we get sunshine back on sunday. it's a dryer ground. if are you going

what happens when we have hurricanes that are setting up in parts of the eastern pacific near mexico that track up in to the north, we see these stay as hurricanes until they cross the international date line. if they cross the date line, they will transition to what's called a typhoon. now, a typhoon and hurricane basically same intensity of winds and the same energy driver, heat from the ocean, but as we go towards china and taiwan and western japan, in fact, dealing with a tropical storm, we've lost flood concerns here as it moves up through the north of the sea of japan eventually going to the china coastline over the course of the next three days. now, in the united states, our main concern is rain in the form of thunderstorms, they have been severe in the midwest for nebraska and kansas, but where we are getting some problems with thunderstorms is in california. we just heard tomas talking about the wilds fires going on in oregon, right along the columbia gorge, that's directly in the line, state line of washington and oregon state. but if we go in to northern california on the

we're certainly keeping a close eye on the systems in the eastern pacific.hurricane iselle. it will continue to weaken as we head to the next 24 hours. it's still a category one hurricane. it would weak onto a tropical storm as early as later tonight. it continues the track it looks like it could possibly head into the big island of hawaii as early as late thursday. we're talking tropical storm force winds. 50 miles per hour plus, also, wind gusts higher than that could easily cause power outages and heavy rainfall that could produce life threatening mudslides and also flash flooding. that's not it. we're talking julio which was strengthened into a category one hurricane early this morning. it, too, could impact the hawaiian islands. it could be this weekend. they have it tracking a little farther north. it would be this weekend. >> thank you very much. >>> a new nbc news wall street poll shows how angry and fed up americans are with washington. when asked are you so upset that you could carry a protest sign for a day, and overwhelming majority, 57% said yes
