eaton turned himself into police with his lawyer the next afternoon. several abuse counselors pleaded to the judge for leniency saying he turned his life around. his mother spoke tearfully saying she was sorry to the family of the little girl who died but asked them to understand her son had been battling a long case of mental illness. the victim's grandmother also spoke in tears. she said one day she might be able to forgive him but this was not that day. now, eaton himself in the end appealed to the judge for leansy si saying he -- leniency saying he had turned his life around but the judge said what appalled him is he would call 911 for help for himself but not the car he crashed into. the judge sentenced him to eight years suspending the rest of the 20-year sentence. he would serve eight years with five years supervision after that. the prosecutors asked for more time but in the end said they were satisfied with this because there were no winners in all of it. >> roz, thank you. >>> the fight over health care reform continues on capitol hill. today
