when i left down there and came back to emery, they had to check me up and in the process they did aical exami examination and mri showed a cancer of growth, a tumor on my liver and they did a pet scan and that kind of lights up a bad place and it lit up. so they're pretty sure that there was a cancer before they operated on august 3rd, and removed it. there are two offers, only 2 1/2 bub wick intermeters based by -- which is 1/10 of my liver. it was indeed cancer and melanoma and they had a high suspicious now that the melanoma was somewhere else on my body and spread to the liver. the doctors tell me that about 98% of all the melanoma is school cancer and about 2% of fe fell-- melanom melanomas. they did an mri and find there were four spots of melanoma on my brain. they are very small spots, about two millimeters if you can envision what a millimeter is, i get my first radiation treatment for melanoma in my brain this afternoon and then i understand i'll have four treatments scheduled in three week intervals. in addition to that, yesterday, they fit me with a mask to hold my head

i'm very grateful that emery is in charge. >> first of all, i am so sorry and sad to hear this news. i just have a basic question. how are you feeling? pres. carter: i feel good. i haven't felt any weakness or debility. the pain has been very slight. right after the operation on my liver, i have pain in my stomach. it was a very tiny operation with tiny incisions in my stomach. and my right shoulder, strange enough but my doctor said that was expected. just resonating pain that goes from your liver and internal organs up to your right shoulder if you have liver problems and i think if you have a heart problem he goes your left shoulder. i only took the pain medicine for a few hours and then i did not have to take it anymore. i had a slight reaction last night to the first treatment. i had a bit of pain in my shoulder and i went to bed around 6:00 and slept until 8:00 this morning. i think that's the best night sleep i had in many years. i feel at ease about it and i have been very lucky the doctors have been there to help with any aspects of pain. from wsbtv. have the been any corres

i'm john blevins, director of the inner faith at emery. my question is mainly to dr.kins but wonder if others have comments on it as well. in hard to reach and vulnerable populations particularly in activities and programs that might be of a contentious nature and cultural context, a lot of faith-based organizations that we're aware of that do that work, that work arises intrinsically around a complicated but potentially contentious negotiation between the faith-based providers that do that work and larger religious traditions. one of our concerns is that when actors from civil society or the multilateral or bilateral donors are made aware of the programs, how does it change the impact of the programs in ways that may be negative? that it makes them and the staff in those organizations more suspect or the work of those organizations suspect or maybe even puts those staff members and the people who receive services in danger? and i wonder if you saw any evidence of that and if you have any thoughts about ways that civil society organizations and the large donors can be
