house speaker john boehner got in the act saying oil companies ought to pay their fair share and eric holder launched an investigation in the oil run up after the president suggested that illegal activity by traders and speculators may be to blame for the rise in gas prices. we have steve, the basics here. we have a big run up on oil prices. i attribute it to rising demand for oil. fed's weak dollar policy. what else would you give as reasons for it? >> no question that the weak dollar policy has impacted the higher price of oil. and now silver and copper and cotton. that is the primary culprit. the other villian is the obama administration . it is sitting there and criticizing and attacking the oil industry. every policy has been anti-oil production and gas production and there is no question in my mind that those kinds of policiless increase the gas paid at the pump. >> one thing i forgot to mention is the mideast turmoil . i tell you what, in the short term at least, it seems that the obama administration policy can't make that big difference. they are hostile to drilling, but those price

so the kind of warning that eric holder is talking about has been going on worldwide.s a matter of fact, the head of interpol is calling on all of the 188 member countries of interpol to be on what he called full alert, either for acts of retaliation or attempts by al qaeda to prove that it still exists in his words. homeland security and dhs have urged local police departments to be on extra vigilance and many have done so on their own. we saw it first in new york city and seeing it in philadelphia and here in washington, police at subway stations and on trains and around sensitive sights in the financial districts and anything where they think that could be targets of opportunity or iconic targets that somebody might want to try to attack. the threat, of course, the current threat that the country has faced, if you look at the attacks in the country, thomas, for the last couple of years, it has not been inspired by bin laden or even directed by al qaeda, the traditional al qaeda that has been hiding out in pakistan. the bigger threat is thought to be the al qaeda gro

about identities of people that they may not have known about before and the attorney general, eric holder, yesterday up on capitol hill, told lawmakers that, yes, we have already taken names off that intelligence and put them on a watch list. so, it's already gleaned some valuable intelligence. and that's just scratching the surface, actually. everybody was really surprised at the amount of potential al qaeda information that they found at that site. they didn't think that osama bin laden would have been that careless. and when you said most of the time, those navy s.e.a.l.s, one of the reason for the mission to stretch out to 40 minutes was because they were finding so much of it. it took them longer to gather it up and throw it in the satchels and take it off with the body of bin laden as we know and it's back here in the states already. >> in addition to the computers, they found five cell phones. bin laden never using them but the people around him using those devices. so what can we learn from their use? >> reporter: well, what you can learn is specific phone numbers that were dialed

he is a former criminal prosecutor who worked with eric holder. good to have you on the program. >> good to be here. tavis: many people have been aware of this dispute. where are we as we speak? >> well, unfortunately right now the players of the national football league would much rather be playing football, they would much rather be working out with their teams trying to bring a championship back to their city. the national football league locked us out. our players want to play football and we have always wanted to play football. although talks between the sides continue with respect to settlement and mediation, players are working out on their own right now and they hope to be able to play football soon but that is all they want right now, to try to get back on the field. tavis: what are the issues that have caused this divide? >> the nfl owners opted out of this agreement and sometimes that gets lost in the shuffle. we had an agreement that was signed in 2006 and the owners opted out because they said the deal was not working for them. the pl

a year ago eric holder said it's about over and it's still going on. do you think that's appropriate? >> i work as closely with the intelligence community as anybody in the white house, as you know. i have the highest regard for the intelligence professionals. they have -- we have seen in the last week, they have one of the really great achievements in the history of intelligence. so i have the highest regard. i am quite familiar with the tenacity and the skill in which the case was put together in this specific case, i can't comment on it. i'm not a law enforcement official. >> chris: we're running out of time. i want to ask you about three different countries. ask for quick answers. they may be longerren than they should be. obama administration is making demands of pakistan. you're asking for the name of top intelligence operatives to check whether or not they were helping bin laden. you want access to bin laden's wife who was shot in the raid. you want the tail section of the blackhawk helicopter returned. question: have they agreed to any of those

we welcome the attorney general, eric holder. most of us have known him for more than a number of years in this various -- his various positions in the government. and -- i welcome you here and praise your standing up for the rule of law. especially in the area of national security. where you were the attorney general that supported the end of using torture and you released legal member mos on th subject that proved that what you were doing was right and some of those memos were incorrect. now for the things that we want you to improve on. i start off with the -- the fact that the worst economic upheaval since the depression, with the suffering and damage it's caused citizens and their family, there is to my knowledge, not one single prosecution on any of the wall street barons that have created this economic mess. the systemic abuses have not ended and are still going on, as far as i'm concerned. in the area, general holder, of the approach to crack cocaine cases under the fair sentencing act, that the department would continue
