i'm eric thomas. we begin with developing news. a family who said meningitis claimed a woman's life on a muni bus, 53-year-old laura kimberly robson died last tuesday while medical officials await for test results they've told her family the likely cause of death is meningitis. leslie brinkley is live in san francisco. and you spoke with her brother. >> reporter: the brother told me that his sister was found dead at the back of a muni bus. and that she had died of muni will only confirm that, yes, a deceased woman was found on the 14 mission line late tuesday night. the brother is concerned of who else might have been in contact with his sister in the days preceding her death. because she rode on numerous bus lines around the bay area. >> the family of 53-year-old laura robson said they were told a bus driver found her sitting up right in a rear seat at the end of the line in daly city on tuesday night. they do not know how long she had been on the bus or when she passed away. muni called daly city police. robson's brother said the

hello, i'm eric thomas, thank you for joining us, breaking news out of san ram on. it came crashing down on her at the canyon lakes golf course and was walking on a path course with one other person and the tree was found on the woman and they rushed her to the hospital where she died. first responders said she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. >> it was just a kind of a plain tree that was about six inches, seven inches in diameter that again just everything lined up with the wind and fell over. >> no one else was hurt in the incident. we are getting other reports though of downed trees tonight. abc 7 news was in oakland where a tree toppled on to the southbound lanes around 4:00 this afternoon and nobody was hurt and with can he expect more scenes like this. lisa argen is tracking the timing of the approaching heavy downpours. lisa? >> that's right, eric. it hasn't hit us yet. we just had a couple of showers earlier, from.2 to.8 and here is live doppler 7 right now and we have very little activity but we have had some flooding in the san joaquin valley and

eric thomas joins us live from that station. eric. >> reporter: the suspect was arraigned today in hayward. his lawyer asked for a continuance. police say the evidence in this case is very strong. they say, one, they have surveillance video from b.a.r.t. of the attack and, two, they have a dna hit. the suspect, 27-year-old meini foster, is being held on numerous felony charges, starting with -- >> kidnapping with the intent to commit sexual assault as well as several other sexual assault crimes. >> reporter: police say the ordeal began here at the bayfair b.a.r.t. station about a week and a half before christmas. a woman in her mid-20s got off b.a.r.t. here around midnight after having a few drinks at an after-work party. that's when foster pounced, forcibly dragging woman almost a 4 mile behind a local kfc and raping her. >> at about 3:00 in the morning covered in mud, she was able to go to a nearby residential neighborhood. she banged on a door and she sought help. >> investigators gathered dna from the victim and matched it to

i'm eric thomas. thanks for joining us. demonstrators are getting toward march here in san francisco. this is a live look above the civic center plaza where they're gathered right now. lisa is there and she begins team coverage on the women's march. lisa. >> reporter: organizers estimate about 40,000 to 50,000 people are here and they are not deterred by this rain. take a look over my shoulder, there are so many people here, the main stage is about 100 yards away. and from here to there is a plaza packed with people. the overall vibe is one of excitement. there are men, women, people of all ages and lots of children here. this has really turned out to be kind of a family event. parents want their kids to be a part of the movement. >> i believe to stand up for themselves. i don't want them to think that they can't be whatever they want to be. >> i really do feel like i want to take more action, get more involved. i have friends that say they might think about running for politics. >> i think it's exciting to be here because

good evening, i'm eric thomas. thanks so much for joining us. right now conditions are too dangerous for crews to search the water. s investigators say she lost control at niles canyon and slid into the creek in castro valley. sergio has more about the effort tonight. sergio? >> reporter: an al media county sheriff's crews basically staged about two miles up niles canyon road. that's because, as you can see, the rapids here in the creek are actually -- they're pretty powerful here, but even more powerful up where this vehicle likely is, so it's too dangerous for emergency have i crews to try to even get to the swart. the swiftwater rescue teams estimate class 4 rapids where the car is currently under water. in addition to the speed of the water, the concerned for rescue teams is the debris that's in the water. branches and other items could be deadly if they collide into divers. a photographer with our media partners the bay area news group shot these pictures of the crews tracking the car from the banks. the alameda county sheriff's department
