>> reporter: that's right, erin. mail-in ballots continue to be counted in all 17 counties in nevada. there's nothing unusual about that whatsoever. the race wasn't close, 50%, percentage's point difference, either way, votes still counted because they have up to saturday for ballots to arrive. that's the rules here in the state of nevada. here in clark county, where people are keeping their eyes on, because 75% of the population of nevada lives in this county where las vegas is located. just told in a news conference, still about 50,000 votes to be counted. those votes come from the mail and also come from buckets, baskets put in polling places, boxes, we saw a basket in one place with a lock on it, but 300 boxes throughout this county, and that's what's being counted right now. now, in addition to the 50,000 there are 5,555 provisional ballots. 7,155 ballots that need to be cured. a total of 12,710 ballots that could be counted. so a grand total more than 62,000 votes that could still be counted in this county and

erin griffin from "the new york times" joins me.nt to start with that, the sense that layoffs are coming at a ton of different tech companies. what are you most looking out for and what strikes you the most about this news? >> well, we've been seeing layoffs since the start of the year. start-ups have been trying to cut costs, and in the face of all of this uncertainty. but the meta news last week with 11,000 employees getting let go is really a sign that we're going -- this is not just a start-up problem, not just a couple companies that maybe overhired or overspent, this is kind of a systemic issue for the tech industry. soo -- so right now some of the bigger tech companies haven't done mass layoffs like m meta/facebook has, but i'm looking out for that now. a lot of them are freezing hiring, trying to cut costs, and i think going forward we could see even deeper cuts as the uncertainty continues through the next year. >> erin, the estimate is at about 100,000 tech employees laid off? >> we've seen 100,000 jobs cut in the tech ind

i'm erin burnett. welcome to a special edition of "outfront" tonight in the closing stretch of this extremely consequential election with only two days to go and control of the u.s. congress literally hanging in the balance. the biggest names from both parties are out in full force with the candidates on this sunday in these final hours. in florida the former president trump headlining a rally for marco rubio who is facing of course the democrat val demings there. >> you're going to elect an incredible slate of true maga warriors to congress many of whom are here right now. >> in new york president biden is about to take the stage in new york governor kathy hochul's re-election effort. the race between hochul and republican lee zeldin is much tighter than expected as election day nears. across the nation here is how it boils down. 435 house races. 35 senate and 36 governor races all up for grabs. in the house, 56 seats are considered in play. this includes 12 states with races that are considered toss

let's begin with erin mclachlan from arizona. two high-profile races in the state.. talking about the government and the senate race. year at the pima election headquarters. what are you seeing? >>eporter: hey, here in arizona it's all about vote tabulation, and that's happening here in pima county at the election headquarters. in the room behind me, election workers running ballots through the vote tabulation machines. now just speaking to an election official who says they're still working to determine the number of ballots. they have less to count here in pima county. they expect that number later today. over in maricopa county, the largest county in arizona, officials this morning saying they have about an excess of 400,000 votes, ballots left to count. and we're expecting the results in the coming days of what is a very tight race here for the arizona senate seat, as well as for the position of governor. kate? >> all right. let's bring in -- thank you. let's get more from las vegas. clark county officials just gave an update on the vote count. what do we know?

it's very important, erin, i mean, it puts democrats, as you said, one seed away from extending that majority, that they have in the senate for another 2 years. and arizona, as a state really has been key to democrats, senate majority, i mean, if you remember in 2020 president biden just narrowly won the state, it was key to as victory. it is a hotly contested state. there were big campaigns we saw on both sides of the aisle to really energized voters. for example, latino voters who were a big part of the electorate. there, it wasn't unexpected. so the democrat mark kelley was favorite heading to the selection. and he had opened up a decent lead over his opponent. but what it means now going forward is that there's going to be all the more scrutiny on what comes out of nevada. that is the other swing state where vo counting is still taking place in the democrat. there is behind at the moment by around a 1000 votes. and of course, aaron georgia as well where we're going to see a run off between the republican and democratic candidates for senate on december 6 . so lots still hanging i

joining us now is erin brown of pimco who published her asset allocation outlook today is this a bigmbracing bonds after a terrible year? >> it has been throughout most of this year, we have been underweight bonds and we are now starting to shift to see value within certain segments of the fixed income market particularly those that are higher quality that offer good return with low default risk we think those will outperform in the year ahead. particularly given the starting level for fixed income yields. these take more risk for high quality corporates about 5.5 to 6%. that'só year per form better. >> so what does it mean for stocks stocks are having a, they've been actually down bing better it's been the opposite for most of the year where stocks and bonds sell off together. is this constructive for stocks as well? >> it's typically an environment where bonds do poorly and equities do okay on a relative basis. as you start to move into a recessionary basis, that's where the scales tip and owning portfolios relative to equities and we think we're at that tipping point right now. we
