when it comes to fedex or u.p.s. and u.p.s. has been a laggard for so long versus fedex. >> sure. i think both of these stocks have been suffering from a lot of different factors. i think with this move lower right now, you know, you are looking at an opportunity inside of fedex that probably doesn't last that long. it's a shorter-term trade opportunity. both companies are levered to the same idea. will u.p.s. and fedex be leveraged on the pricing side? we heard from the company that they are matching u.p.s. on surcharges and they will continue to push on prices to lever to extract the value they need from the shippers that are willing to pay for their services. i think that same core thesis is there. investors it will be more a tr tracked to fedex. >> david vernon, thank you very much. have a nice weekend. >> thank you. >>> speaking of u.p.s., we have a market flash. they are telling cnbc they are planning to hire 125,000 seasonal workers. that is up over the past six years. u.p.s. expects to see the highest level of hiring in the atlanta region and louisville and dallas and denv

does this tell us about the economy if fedex is tanking here. i don't know, guy. we're a services economy at this point. >> some of the conversation revolved around fedex specific problems and, you know, as much as you want to make it a dow theory thing, fedex has had sort of -- they've had their ups and down downs, more downs than ups given where the stock should be trading and it's not. yes, in terms of dow theory i'll answer your question, the market commentary you're hearing is more accurate to look an doakically at consumer spending and saying everything must be good. i'm making more simplistic than it is, but below the surface there are problems. if it's one company it's one thing. this is a lot of companies across a swath of industries that are saying the same thing over and over again. at some point that's going to mean something. >> mike, how are you feeling after the 50 basis points cut more bullish about the markets or more concerned? >> well, i mean i think i would have to be more bullish overall. that's not necessarily because i thi

that would be fedex.after some tough and unexpected numbers, also cut guidance. let's get over to dom chu who has more on what the street is saying about this stock this morning. >> a lot of unexpected at least numbers coming out and the reason why analysts are taking a lot of action today, either for commentary on certain parts of that report or outright maybe movement on some of those ratings and target prices as well. let's start first of all with one of the more kind of bearish tilted reports of the morning so far. i can't go through all of them but it will give you an idea and sense of what's happening. morgan stanley analysts are now downgrading that stock to an underweight rating it was equal weight before. the target price cut to $200 from 215. they think the expectations need to be ecalibrated for this stock because of structural challenges and parcel, things like the mix, the volume, pricing as well. keep an eye on that particular move. that's one of them. another one that's maybe a little bit m
