the snow flakes will fall in charlotte later today. the only place we have the advisory is in the mountains. the winter weather advisory will start up this morning and last into the afternoon as they pick up 1 to 3 inches in the highest ridge tops. so far all of this is moving off of the mountains, it is not hitting the ground. i don't see any snow reports coming in but it is a sign the atmosphere is beginning to moisten up. the clouds are moving in and by late morning and midday you may see a few flakes flying in charlotte. upper 20's into statesville and salisbury. it may not feel like it, but it is and we won't see the numbers go down that much further as the clouds are arriveing. we're in the low to mid-20's with less wind so the numbers will jump up above freezing as we head towards midday today. it will be very fine, light snow as well. i don't expect this to stick on the roads here in town. this afternoon we wake up to around 40. we'll use out of this. not sure if we'll see mid to upper 40s. either way, we get back into sunshine

you can see some big flakes falling out that way. the weather team is here tracking the storm. >> let's begin with danielle niles. we are seeing a change over happening. >> that's what we will track all morning. we have got the rain and we start to mix in with some of the big wet flakes. here's a zoomed out look atsatellite and radar. eastern massachusetts is dealing with areas of rain mixing with and changing over as well. so temperatures are in the upper 30s right now in southeastern massachusetts. 37 in brockton and farther north and west you go if you can zoom in on the radar we are talking about rain in southeastern massachusetts but colder air is coming in to the region the north and west of boston 32 in worcester and even though sight hose -- even though sight show rains you saw comes harder that's when we see the wet neighbors that mix in. snow and still do from fitchburg along route 2 corridor from weston to bolton and ate loy- along 495. this rain snow line will press hours. that's what we are watching in terms of the rain

the flakes are in front of a warm front. the warm front giving us just enough lift to pop these flakes as we head into the overnight hours. it will take a while for them to really get there for us. you can see where that front is. you can see it easily more easily when we were looking at the temperature forecast there. the temperature maps but here we go with that ban of snow showers that works into the overnight hours running through the time line we're looking at this between 10 and midnight and this continues into the wee hours of tomorrow morning but what air that's coming in from the south and it chews away at snowflakes pushes the rain snow line back to the northwest and there a lot of locations that keep the temperatures coal enough to continue to see the snow long enough to get much in the way of accumulation. up here. a possible coating to maybe up to an inch that sort of most case scenario. any of that will be melting off as we move into the weekend. i mentioned 50 degrees so how long does that stuck around? more d

you can see flakes coming down all day long. parking lot gets brief liz covered. the it is covered at the moment the with the band of snow that just moved through. untreated surfaces like parking lots at a school will be covered as we go through the overnight hours or at least through this evening. we should clear out overnight. you can see band starting to push to the north but they are one of those bands we talk about yesterday, a convective band of snow fall over portions of montgomery county and even in the city of fill and portions of south jersey. i want to zoom in, deborah on twitter told me in jeffersonville they are getting hammered with snow at the moment. you can see why. notice intensification in this one band here from collegeville toward east norriton, lower providence right around that area down toward oaks, jeffersonville area we are seeing heavy snow at the moment. main roads should be okay but this could pile up, an additional inch as we go through the evening, before it finally does push out overnight. we will remain in a winter weather advisory
