ktvu's brian flores is live there now with the new information we're learning about the victim. good afternoon, brian. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. well, the victim has yet to be identified but alameda police say that she is a 64-year-old woman from her here in alameda. she was trying to cross this street, otis drive, right where the arrows are but the impact left her about ten yards away. you see the spray paint on otis drive as well. we talk about distracted drivers. authorities believe it might have been the victim in this case who was distracted. this all happened before 5:00 a.m. on otis between park street and women low near the safeway gas station here in alameda. police say the woman was trying to cross the street walking toward the mall when she was hit by a minivan traveling eastbound on otis. she was not in a crosswalk. two men in the minivan stopped and tried to help her but she died. they were cooperating with police, they were questioned an released. police are looking into weather the victim was too distracted to notice her surroundings. >> she was wearing d

brian flores is live at gabrielson park in sausalito to explain why this witness is so important.d morning, brian. >> reporter: good morning. not only is violent crime rare in sausalito but so is the search for a particular witness. police say that witness, a woman, may have seen or heard a sexual assault that happened here at gabrielson park last friday. hopefully, she may be watching the news this morning. police did arrest 51-year-old diego rodriquez over the weekend. police say rodriquez and a young woman were hanging out at a few restaurants and bars. but police say rodriquez was offering or recruiting the woman for a restaurant job where he worked. well, after several drinks, both of them ended up at gabrielson park where police say rodriquez assaulted her on a park bench. both of them then walked to a nearby restaurant where the woman made a b-line to a restroom. that's where she called police. rodriquez standing outside of the restroom unaware she made the call and then police arrested him. police say a witness back at the park may have seen or heard what happened. >> they
