gina benitez live in daytona. gina, i know it's been a busy week for emergency crews and police but what happened there yesterday? >> reporter: yeah, absolutely. well, yesterday two spring breakers actually stole volusia county beach control jet patrols. they said their maintenance bern had to beach the jet ski because it was having some mechanical issues and that's when these two guys took advantage and took off on it. now, officers spotted these guys doing this and were able to follow them along the shoreline on land when the two thieves ditched the jet ski just south of the main street pier. they ran and officers were able to catch up with them. this is just one of many incidents happening here on daytona beach over the last couple of weeks. trouble keeping the crowds under control so they had to beef up enforcement. with which biggest issues has been underage drinking. police say they've already made more than 200 underage drinking arrests. arrests. >> we have been working with abt for the last 9 days and so fa

here's gina benitez. reporter: since fox international opened its doors here in orlando a little over a year ago the company created over 71 new jobs. governor rick scott toured the they make everything from speakers to the monitors in the back of your seat and the company employs 250 people here in the sunshine state. >> the employees here are tremendous and dedicated. we have a relationship with the local community. we are working with local partners like the governor said, some of the jobs with spilling over with ucf interns and other companies. we are really happy to be here. reporter: along with the excitement surrounding the company scott made sure to announce florida led the way in job creation around the country. >> orlando is really doing well, 53,000 jobs just in the last 12 months. 4.7% unemployment. the orlando area is leading the state in job creation right now. reporter: governor scott ended his visit emphasizing job creation should be the country's biggest priority right now. reporting live

that's where we find fox 35's gina benitez. do we know anything about the driver they're searching for? >> reporter: at this point we really don't. witnesses say that driver was driving a pickup truck. that's really all fhp has to go on right now. around 9:45. according to the florida highway patrol, a 54-year-old bicyclists was trying to get from one side of courtney parkway to the other side when he fell off his bike. he got up, attempted to get back on the bike, a vehicle then hit him, and kept driving. the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. we have not gotten an identity of the man, it's pending next of kin notification. we'll try to get more information from fhp. troopers are looking for a possible pickum trub that may be involved -- a possible pickup truck. if you have any information, contact police. >> john: deputies have arrested a man who they said was behind a it happened at the diamond club at semoran boulevard in orlando. they believe the fight started with three different motorcycle gangs. >> luanne: ryan

fox 35's gina benitez is joining us live on campus with details. >> reporter: ucf is asking for $20 million from the state to move forward with their plans for the downtown campus. now today the state board of governors will either approve or deny that plan. so far ucf already has $16 million in private funds. dr. phillips charities donated $3 million yesterday. the largest private donation to date. the goal is to get $20 million from private donors and will last year governor rick scott didn't veto the funding plan but the president of ucf is hopeful that will this year it'll pass. and if ucf gets the funding, the downtown campus is set to open in fall of 2018. >> john: a driver accused of hitting an 8-year-old on his bike is in jail. >> amy: the judge gave the 73-year-old a $15,000 bond on tuesday. police say he was driving down alpine lane in titusville last thursday when he hit the boy. witnesses said he stopped and asked if he should call 911 before he left. then he came back to the scene and told police he heard a bang but didn't know that he hit the boy. the boy is now back home. >>

fox 35's gina benitez shows us dramatic picture of the car that burst into flames. >> reporter: a little after 6:30, maitland police got a call about this, car on fire in the middle of i-4. emergency crews rushed to the area, quickly closing lanes and working to get to the vehicle. once they did, first responders realized there was a person >> we were doing a traffic home side investigation at this time where there was one fatality, the only occupant of the vehicle. >> police say the car slammed into this concrete pole right before it burst into flames. >> the impact was so severe with the concrete pole that we were just not able to identify what type of vehicle, anything like that. >> traffic was at a crawl for hours, with only one lane able to get by. police also shut down the maitland exits to safely conduct their investigation. at this point it's unclear what caused that driver to lose control, and police say it could be a while before they know for sure. >> it will take weeks before there's a final investigative report done, but we're just now. >> fox 35 news. >> kirstin: to a news
